Newly with HPV--Dr kept it light. CONFUSED!

0 Recommendations

I am 37 & married with 2 small children. OB/GYN called the other day to tell me pap came back positive for HPV. Said we will "re-pap" in 3 months and that there was nothing i should do. did not say anything about abstaining from sex with husband, tampons, going on Papillex, etc. Is he taking this too lightly?? Why no suggestions??

My nurse kept it light as well, apparently it's really common to have hpv. The nurse who handed me pamphlets said, "i just did this yesterday," as in called another girl to tell her. I was really devastated when I found out and even had some guilt. Once I got through that (took me several days) I realized I was okay and that I would get rid of it. Even now I relapse, because it's hard to think I have a virus in my body, and a shameful one at that (grew up catholic, no sex, etc.). Hope that you are ok, you have your husband and kids for support. Let me know if Papillex works, I've been thinking of trying it myself.

stayingpositive - I was diagnosed in 2005 with hr hpv. Unfortunately, I think doctors take this virus TOO lightly. There are things you can do to strengthen your immune system and help rid the body of the active virus that they don't talk about. Also, they neglect to tell you about other hpv related cancers. You live about 20 minutes from me- I'm in Bergen County too. I wonder if you go to the same dr's as me since they have an office in Ramsey too. Anyway, if you want to talk, friend me :)
