My turn to worry

0 Recommendations

Last night while having a shower I noticed a small lump just above my right groin area. I had chemo assisted radiation to my pelvic area about 1 1/2 years ago and had a complete hysterectomy last April. I had adenosquamous carcinoma, Stage 1BII.

I've been up all night worrying about what it is.... of course 99% of the time my mind is telling my it is a tumour... I'm trying to talk myself out of it and say it's something else...

Has anyone else experienced this?

Helllo Willtosurvive,
I wanted to reach out and offer my support. I have been up nights worrying about finding more cancer many times. It seems to be the nature of being a person who has had cancer. My best words of encouragement is to tell you to have your doctor check things out and figure out what is really going on. Until then do your best to stop thinking the worst. My thoughts are with you..
Jamie.

i'm sorry to hear that you're having a scare, and i hope you're able to get in to see the doctor sooner rather than later so you don't drive yourself nuts worrying....and so you can find out what's going on. just wanted you to know i'm thinking about you....and i hope the lump is just some benign 'something'....sending gentle hugs....

Thanks... I will see my family doc today hopefully and have an appointment with my gyne oncologist on Friday... which I know is soon, but not soon enough. I too am hoping it is just something else... I don't know if I'll ever be strong enough to not worry about it coming back... it is always in the back of my mind... I had a completely sleepless night last night so hopefully my family doc can give me some advice / news to lesson my worry.

willtosurvive, I haven't experienced what you are dealing with right now, but I understand completely how you feel. The thougts of cancer are always creeping around in the back of your mind, and when something happens, you have a cough, or pain or diarrhea or whatever you always think the worst.
Maybe your family dr. can prescribe something for you to reduce your anxiety right now.
Prayers, Amy
