I am 23 years old and I have just been told that I have cervical dysplasia. It is so important to me to have children at some point in my life, I have been searching the internet trying to find the answer to which procedure will leave me with the best chance of having children. If there is anyone who is able to offer me some advice I would appreciate it so much. I am so scared to make the wrong decision.

I totaly know what you mean. I am 27, engaged, and don't have any children yet. My fiance and I are really looking forward to having kids so last month when my dr told me I have cervical dysplasia , I was stunned. My dr has recommended that I have the LEEP procedure done but I am concerned about that procedure weakening my cervex thus making it difficult for me to have children. My understanding is that the LEEP removes less tissue than the Cone so in my humble opinion, the LEEP would be the least traumatic for your body. A friend of mine told me that her cousin's wife had a weak cervex and so she procedure done where they sewed her cervex shut to make it strong enough to support the weight and once and when she was ready to have the baby they let the stitches out. I know this sounds kind of horrible but this might be an options for you if you end up really having trouble staying pregnant.
Hi Melindayoyo, I am 28 and confused as well I had an abnormal pap 10/31/08 and a colp following my results came back HPV CIN III. I don't have children either and I don't know what to do. I am scheduled for a Cone in 3 days and I'm driving myself crazy. I don't know what to expect. Good luck to you!

I'm 32 and just recently got married. I don't have any children and we were planning on having them very soon after the wedding. I had a LEEP done in September. My understanding was that 1 LEEP doesn't make that big of a difference. The amount that is taken from your cervix is fairly small.
I still have dysplasia and my doctor wants to refer me to a specialist so that a second LEEP won't render my cervix incompetent.
That is what it is called when the cervix becomes too short to support a growing fetus. They can do a cerclage, which is the stitch to keep the cervix shut. It's uncomfortable I hear, but works like a charm!!
I wouldn't worry so much about the one LEEP or CONE. If and when you get pg, your OB may do an early ultrasound to check the length of your cervix just in case!

Hello I am 26 and had the LEEP procedure at 18. They told me that I had a small cervix and that with the whole tip of my cervix being lobed off I may have a hard time delivering children in the future. Well, I have 2 children and both were born natural with no complications at all. I know everyone is different, but all was well. The only thing was that I had clear paps for over 8 years and durring my last pregnancy the abnormal cells returned. My doctor said that it was due to my changing immune system durring pregnancy. My 2nd child is now 11months and I am clear again.
Hi. I'm new here and just posted my full story - but, here's long story short(er):
I'm 2 weeks from my 42nd birthday right now. When I was 25 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Cervical Dysplasia. I don't even know if LEEP was available then, or if it just wasn't an option for me. I had a Cone done. A very large portion of my cervix taken.
Long story short: Here I am...all these years later...with 2 children. 2 successful pregnancies. I did need a cerclage and because of the type of cerclage my cervical situation required, I had C-Sections - but, my point is, it IS possible to have dysplasia, successful treatment and sustain pregnancy/childbirth too!
