I'm a 26 year old female whos always lived an extremely active lifestyle. About 1 week and a half ago I started experiencing bleeding after intercourse. The bleeding wasn't significant so I ignored it. However, last night I was in the ER because I had what I thought to be a significant amount of blood after intercourse. I've had left back pain, what I think to be my kidney, and abnormal vaginal bleeding. I've been on the birth control, depo shot, for years and my side effect is that I don't get my period, so for me to have bleeding and the back pain...I'm scared. Any advice? I've already been to the ER and had blood labs done which came back normal. I had a UA done and it showed minor beginnings of a UTI and some blood in the urine. The ER doc did a pelvic as well and said there were no signs of infection. But, he did say he noticed a cyst. Nothing ot be alarmed. Today I went in and had a pap done with cultures and another UA. Doc said my cervix look inflammed but did not see any cyst. He says I won't have results until next week. I'm going crazy thinking of the what ifs. One of my biggest fears in life is finding out that I'm not able to have children. I'm concerned that no one else seems to be worried about my back pain and what I term loss of sensation in my lower back and hip/buttocks (left side only) area. Any one out there experience anything remotely similar?

zero back or loss of sensation...that is quite odd. I did experience bleeding after sex, i was diagnosed high grade cervical dysplasia with high risk HPV. i waited it out a bit while changing my lifestyle drastically (no sex, no smoking, very little booze, green smoothies, taking indole 3 carbinol) it went to low grade...i waited some more..still low grade. i had leep.

I do think the fact that it looked inlfammed based on a mere visual inspection indicates that there likely is hpv and it's probably not low grade. again no need to jump the gun that you won't have kids! while one must take care of themselves and be prudent hpv and dysplasia is VERY common and most of the time DOES NOT lead to cancer!

hold tight till results hun!

Hi

The blood in the urine test can be coming from your bleeding and therefore not to worry about.

Your bleeding can come from a harmless cyst or other or perhaps due to inflammation, your birth control shot or other treatable things

In regards to the back pain, did you have experience any fever in relation to your back pain?

I am not sure about everything, but to calm you I have experienced the back pain you describe just in the middle and right side in lower back - buttock. First they though it was the onset of a kidney infection, but that pain should be much higher on the flanks - not lower back. So where is your back pain located and was it associated with fever?
In my case it turned out to be an acute case of Sacroiliitis - inflammation of one of the sacroiliac joints (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sacroiliitis/DS00726/DSECTION=symptoms)

I am not remotely saying that your back pain is the same as mine was, and please I am not a doctor qualified to say anything but I am trying to tell you what can cause back pain and blood in urine other than cervical cancer symptoms.

In regards to your bleeding, if it is not the cysts and while you wait for answers ... try and find some information on your birth control shots ... there might be information on spotting and abnormal bleeding which can give you an idea of what could be happening. Did you take it the right way etc.

I hope this helps if not just to let you know that there are lots of not so scary reasons why suddenly it all just seems to be different and scary.

Sincerely
Lilly
