How fast can CIS come back after a cone? I had a cone procedure April 24 this year with unclear margins. Now I am going for a 2nd colpo. I'm scared of getting full blown cancer. If I need another cone, should I have the oncologist do it or should I just take it all out?

i would encourage you to take one step at a time. first go to the doctor and see what your current cervical health is....perhaps the edges have cleared themselves of the dysplasia. and, yes, i would encourage you to see a gynecologic oncologist for both the diagnosis and any further treatment that is needed - they're the experts and you deserve and need the best health care you can get.

wow, we are so in the same boat here, my cone was april 7th 2009 and my follow up pap in August came back HSIL, so I just went to an oncologist for my colposcopy, he did that on wed. along with an ultrasound, waiting for the results, he told me to at least expect another cone, that apparently my gyno did not get all of it, no margins were even reported on the path report form it. Once he gets the results he will let m know if we need to do anything else. I am very glad I went to the oncologist, hopefully we can take care of this this time around!

Just now noticed this post, after your reply on another thread. Like flowershoplady said, one step at a time is the way to go. From the sounds of it, if the margins were unclear then it is probably not new, but left over from that. If they suggest a second cone, I would certainly go for it. If they can get good clear margins with that, then you'd probably just need close follow up for a few years.
