Fearing a hysterectomy...

0 Recommendations

Hello,
I am new to this board but I figured now is a good time to get in touch with other going through what I'm going through. I am scheduled to have a cone biopsy tomorrow and I'm really scared. I don't know anyone else who is going through this and unless you've been through it, it's difficult to understand. Last year I had a abnormal pap that was ascus +. They did colpo and it came back LGSIL. A month ago, when I went in for a followup, the pap results were HGSIL. I had colpo again and the Dr. said I had CIN 1 and 2 lesions in the ECC. Nothing was on the cervix, but the ECC culture showed that they were all in the canal. The Dr. immediately scheduled a cone biopsy for tomorrow. The clinic only offers local anesthetic and I'm scared that it's going to hurt. My biggest fear is that the cone biopsy will be insufficient, and that the margins will not be clear. I am 25 and single with no children, but I do hope to have them one day. I am fearing a hysterectomy if the cone is unsuccessful. Has anyone else had abnormal cells in the ECC? Does the cone hurt?

i had a cold knife cone biopsy, they put me to sleep. it was over fast and i was fine after. maybe small cramping like a period but thats it. rest when they say to and dont have inter course etc, for as long as they say not to. well after my biopsy, the dr. said it went from a 1 to a 3 in a years time next step would be cancer, seemed to be stubborn and progressing fast, i just had a hysterectomy, abdominal. they left the ovaries. believe it or not, i was up and walking the next day and havent stopped yet. i was really lucky. i mean it hurt the first week, but very minimal. in fact, i told them no narcotic pain relievers. i took tylenol. good luck, and dont worry about the cone, its not soo bad.
