Excited about treatment which clears CINIII ...but what about anal cancer?

0 Recommendations

Hi guys...I've only posted once on this forum a few weeks ago when I was dealing with my 2nd abnormal pap and some changed cells on my cervix. Update: My ob/gyn wanted to remove the cells with heat treatment 'just in case' but said I could wait and see. I'm seeing a naturopath instead and am now excited about potentially clearing this virus.

The background: this naturopath has a young daughter who had high risk HPV. She was CINIII and the doctors were extremely keen to do leeps and cone biopsies and everything else. They told her she'd have cancer within a year if she didn't. Unfortunately she also has a bad heart condition and any kind of medical procedure is high risk. Her Mum, being a naturopath, then spent the next year or so researching and trying a lot of different things on her daughter to see if they could avoid surgery. She spoke with gynos and doctors around the world for advice. Fast forward a year and half or so and her daughter was not only free of CINIII but also came back with a negative DNA result for HPV. In that time she had no pap smears and they didn't do another pap until just before she was scheduled for surgery (which was the final option at that point). Luckily, it came back clear and she basically cleared the virus. That was early this year and since then this naturopath has apprently treated other women successfully and seems very knowledgeable about HPV (I was testing her out to make sure).

Unfortunately I don't know all the ingredients but this is the treatment I'm doing:

3 Drops of some herbal concoction 3 times a day
Vaginal douching once a day for 10 days.

Then a 2 week break before another 10 days of vaginal douching with a different mixture. I will also be treating my partner during this second phase because I had some fears of being re-infected (which she said was unlikely but I'm doing it anyway) or of him getting cancer.

She also has me on Vitamin C and Folate and of my own accord I'm taking Papillex, but the naturopath said this boiled down to being just an immune booster (but hey, i'll try anything!)

The naturopath said that her treatment is designed to remove the cells more gently than surgery (so it sounds like it kills off a layer of cells on the cervix) and at the same time address the virus itself (which doctors don't bother with, they just remove the problem cells and hope for the best).

Now, unfortunately I still have some unanswered concerns Perhaps someone here can help:

1. I've been reading about people on this forum who have ended up with anal cancer or abnormal results from an anal pap. I was too embarassed to admit to the naturopath that I'd had anal sex twice with my long term partner (to those who are curious: don't bother trying it. It did nothing for me!). So do I need an Anal Pap as well??? I have no idea where I could get one. I asked the naturopath about the virus in 'other areas' eg. vagina and she said that the treatment I'm using will 'spill out' anyway and treat the whole region.
2. Should I just go ahead and use the treatment she's given me anally? Not keen on that but maybe it's the best idea?
3. How common is throat cancer? Do I need some sort of test for that too? I'm 26 now so is that something to watch for when I'm 50?
4. After I finish this treatment I plan on getting another pap smear and paying for a DNA test for HPV. If it comes back negative does this mean I've cleared the virus totally or can it live on in other areas?

So to sum up: I'm excited about this treatment and will share it with the forum if successful (hopefully she'll tell me the ingredients but if not I can provide contact details). But now I'm concerned about the virus in other areas of my body.

Hi Sandra
I don't want to be negative but I was told by my doctor that once you have HPV there is no way to get rid of it. And I would talk to your doctor about the douching because it's really not good to douch and especially that much. Unless a doctor tells you to it's really not good for your body. I wish you luck and hope everything works out for you.

You need an anal pap and anal hpv test. That is separate from the vaginal/cervical area. You may have a hard time finding someone Down Under who does this, but persist! My gyno is actually goig to be starting them in the practice I go to. In the mean time, I went into New York to have it done last April...

I'm not exactly sticking up for Sandra here, because I also heard douching is not good for you since it upsets the bodies natural chemical balance and kills off helpful flora, etc. And. Anyone who knows me on this site knows that I'm quite skeptical & suspicious of anything labeled "natural" since it's usually ineffective and a gimmick used to sell product. So-called natural products can be dangerous too since they're unregulated. BUT. It also makes sense to me that a virus should be able to be cured topically using the right chemicals or balance of chemicals that would disable the virus by making its existing environment unhospitable for the virus to live and thrive. I hope scientists keep working on this, although they are probably too under-funded to be able to do much at this time. Good luck with the treatment, Sandra, but keep up with your Paps religously, just in case. Hugs, M

I'm aware that douching is usually a misguided 'feminine hygiene' tactic that is seriously outdated these days. I certainly wouldn't do it regularly on a full time basis. But I doubt 10 days on, 2 weeks off and then another 10 days is going to do any long term damage. Also, it's only 30ml so more like a topical application than a full on 'clean out'. There'll be plenty of time for the natural flora to come back.

As for the product itself...it's not a harsh, burning type of solution, doesn't hurt and simply smells 'herby'. If there are any side effects then the other women haven't experienced them and neither have I so far...but even so, can any negative effects really be worse than cancer?

In any case I'm willing to try it. Medically speaking there is no 'cure' for the virus but some people seem to be able to clear it and not have further problems and even test negative for HPV later on. From my reading there seems to be no hard and fast rule as to who clears the virus or how, but I'll give it a shot.

So I'm going to give my body a chance to clear the virus before I get surgery. In my case I've caught this thing pretty early as I'm not even in a CIN category yet and my doc said I could wait 6 months without much danger of it progressing too far.

Also, as I said, I plan on getting a pap and a DNA test after I'm done with the naturopath treatment - which is actually months before my doc said I was due for another one. From the sounds of it I might need to look into the anal one as well.

Obviously regular paps are a must for all of us regardless of surgeries, naturopaths or anything else we might try.

As I see it though, there is a potential benefit and fairly low risk to the wait-and-see approach combined with natural therapies and a healthy diet.

I think you're wise to give your body time to clear the virus before you opt for surgery. Very often women will clear it on their own, especially if they're being proactive with their health. My guess is the douche your ND subscribed is not the standard vinegar douche you get at the drugstore but rather something herbal/medicinal? My ND prescribed a vitamin E, thuja, & lomatium suppository, among several supplements. Are you also doing anything differently with your diet?

Best of luck finding someone to do an anal pap. That seems to be the greatest challenge on this forum. I asked my gyn about that as well & she had no idea. I think I will call a gyn-onc at the local university & see if they can recommend someone. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near NY to visit this doctor that everyone talks about.

Best wishes -- keep us updated on your treatment!

The douching solution is definitely medicinal and not vinegar based. I don't know why people use vinegar...I imagine it would be pretty harsh :-s

If (fingers crossed) my body does clear the virus I'll put it down to a combination of healthy living, seeing the naturopath and just my body's natural processes. My gyno didn't seem to think it would clear up on its own but I'd like to try before I do surgery.

My only gripe is that when he first found the mildly abnormal cells he totally played it down and said they'd be gone next time and didn't really educate me about what this all means at all. So I could have been doing all these things much earlier and could have found this forum a lot earlier too.

As well as the douching I'm eating more vegetables, salad and fish and I'm also taking a general multi vitamin. My diet was already pretty healthy though.

I read somewhere that you're not meant to eat meat if you have cancer or pre cancer but I'm not sure if that's true. The naturopath hasn't told me to do anything specific, just keep eating healthily like I already am.

I've gone off the pill and I'm a non smoker so hopefully my risk factors are low.

The only bad thing I've done is go on a girl's trip to the wineries in the Barossa Valley...I'm avoiding alcohol but this trip was planned for a long time so it was the exception.
