Diagnosed with CIN3. Having to go in for another Sugery. Im scared

Hello everyone.

I went in for my normal Pap this year and like all of you, it was abnormal. So the next step was the colposcopy. After thats the dr suggested a LEEP procedure. I just had this done last week and got my results yesterday. The Dr. said that the Dysplasia was more then she originally saw and when they did the LEEP I was a stage 2. These new results are saying I'm now CIN stage 3. I have 2 beautiful little girls 5 and 6. After my second child I had an IUD in and had no period for 5 years. During the LEEP procedure they had to take it out, my body kicked a period and it sucks! But I'm more scared because now the Dr is saying that they want to do a Surgery this time and put me under completely. ( I was not put under for the LEEP) She stated if we don't get the results we are looking for from this surgery then a hysterectomy is recommended. WHAT!!! I'm only going to be 30 this November. Not that I am planning on having anymore children, but I don't want that option taken away from me. Does anyone know side effect good or bad for having a hysterectomy so early? IS THAT REALLY MY ONLY OPTION AFTER THIS? Thank you for all that take time to read this and give advice. I'm just kinda going through the motions these days.

Hi,
Any surgery is harsh to the body, and it does not kill the HPV virus.

Early hysterectomy incites premature aging. The problem is that taking hormones afterward may increase the risk of breast cancer. And you still can have the HPV virus.

You are your own best advocate. Get informed. Have you seen a naturopath who specializes in dysplasia? You can read my journal for what I am doing, and read the sites I have listed, and perhaps you will get a good second or third opinion before choosing radical surgery.

xoxo

While surgery will not clear HPV from your body, CIN3 is advanced dysplasia and should be addressed immediately. I am assuming you did not get clear margins with your LEEP? I did not get clear margins with my 1st LEEP and had a successful 2nd LEEP with clear margins. I was normal for a few years, but did little to address my health and immune system to address the HPV. When the dysplasia returned as CIN3, I had a CKC (cone biopsy), which is what I am assuming your MD is suggesting. I would ask if you could repeat the LEEP and possibly even seek a 2nd opinion from a GynOnc. Although I did ultimately have a hysterectomy last month, that is definitely not your next course of action, especially at such a young age. FYI, a hysterectomy does not necissarily age you prematurely and there is no need to remove your ovaries during a hysterectomy for reurrent advanced dysplasia and thus enter menopause. And if your ovaries aren't removed, you don't take hormones.

I had a cone for cin lll last October with positive margins meanin they didn't get it all. I did not have to have another surgery they just biopsy/ecc/pap me every 3 months to make sure it doesn't come back as your immune system can fight it off. I would get a second opinion if they are talking hysterectomy without even seeing if your body heals its self. My oncogist says he won't do a hysterectomy for cin lll unless I get to the point I have no cervix left to do cones anymore.

I had a LEEP for CIS/CIN3 with abnormalities seen at the margins and they are not re-doing the LEEP.

However, maybe you should ask the Dr what was found that makes them want do another LEEP right away. Maybe there is endocervical involvement requiring further treatment.

I am due for a repeat PAP in December. They are expecting it to be slightly abnormal as it takes six months to heal but some GYN/ONCs say wait 6 months even with abnormal margins.

Can you get a referral to a GYN/Oncologist? Dysplasia and cancer are their specialty.

Good luck! Deep breaths.

Endocervical involvement is where my margins were that's why I get the ecc to check inside.
