D&C for AGUS

Has anyone here dealt with hyperplasia? I was originally diagnosed with severe cervical displasia and advised I would need chemo and radiation to fight it along with multiple procedures such as LEEP and cold knife. I decided to get another opinion and went to a gyn/onc who advised my cells are not coming from my cervix, but my uterus. He also looked at my former pathology and advised the former doc was incredibly incorrect.
Long story short, I had a D&C on Friday, which was extremely painful (not because of the procedure, but because of the nausea and muscle soreness from the general anesthesia!), and won't know what's going on for a few weeks.

However, prior to the D&C my doc came in and told me that his findings may result in just hormone therapy for hyperplasia if it's not endocervical cancer or endometrial/uterine. I can't find much info on this anywhere, so am looking for firsthand experiences.

Thanks!

how awful that your first doctor told you that you had cervical cancer when you don't! and what a relief it must be that you got a second opinion with a gynecologic oncologist who seems to be diagnosing and treating your situation properly. i haven't had your experiences, but i thought you should know that you don't need to wait a few weeks to get the results back from your d&c.....those results should be available to your doctor in 2 to 3 business days after the procedure. hope you're feeling better - and let us know how you're doing.

I suspect that perhaps your doctor isn't up-to-date on the latest and greatest in HPV and cervical cancer. I was told the same thing, but that was 10 years ago! The felt it was cancer, I should have a hysterectomy and they even planned on relocating my ovaries after my LEEP soi they could prepare me for radiation and chemo!

I ended up having a D&C with my LEEP as well, as the doctors felt that the cancerous cells were endocervical and possibly uterine in nature. It was incredibly painful, as they did it in conjunction with my LEEP and I was only under a local and was not asleep.

Thing is, it turned out to be something similar to your diagnosis, hyperplasia, but I also had CIS Stage 0, HSIL and CIN III.

Although they never found precancer or cancerous cells, they still continue to monitor me for this in case it turns into something more. I am 10 years out from treatment and still get yearly hysteroscopies and ECCs to ensure there is nothing lurking. So, you may considering doing that in edition to your annual Pap and HPV test.

I am sorry about the muscle weakness and pain. It does get better and takes few weeks to go entirely away, but it is good your doctor looked rather than letting it go. Try ibuprofen or Alieve to help and if the pain gets worse or doesn't lessen, go back to the doctor.
