CT scan on neck today

0 Recommendations

Several months back I remember even before my HPV diagnosis there had been a small lump forming in my neck... I would have some sharp pains and a weird tingle when I would talk.. I blew it off but after being diagnosed with high risk HPV and learning about its effect on many parts of you body, including your neck, I decided I should probably get it checked out. my doc ran some blood work on me.. she was concerned it was my thyroid but blood work came back perfect... she said the lump was definitely not normal and that I needed further testing... today I will get a ct scan.. Im so nervous.. after my colposcopy results of LSIL I really felt positive about fighting this... and now I just have alot of anxiety worrying about this lump... has anyone else had a similar situation?

Hi Hummingbird:

I am so glad you are getting a CT today. Please let us know as soon as you get your results. Oral Cancer is a real concern for us with HPV and any symptoms should be vigilantly followed up.

As Jamiegirl and I both posted today, we are now adding Velscope screening to our health check regime.

I hope the bump is nothing and having the CT will allow you to put your mind at rest once you get the good results.

Beth,
Thank you for your encouragement.. I received my results today and they said that they could not see any signs of abnormalty... but that I have a swollen lymphnode that could be a result of the virus and my immune system... previous to the CT scan my doctor put me on an anit-biotic to see if it was an infection.. it did not decrease he size of the lump so they took further action to make sure it was not abnormal.. they hope to see that as my immune system increases the lump to return to original size.. as you can assume I was really excited to hear this news.. but there is still a part of me that worries because it is there.. im just trying to relax and take the good news as truth! sometimes its just so hard to not second guess because of doctors making mistakes in the past...
hope you are doing well..

Hi hummingbird 10, I too have swollen neck lymph nodes and my Dr's say that it from the inflammation that I have from the radiation proctitis. I have had scans and test after test, too many to name, haha and that is the only answer that they have for me. I feel fine, so I guess they are right. Lymph nodes can swell for many reasons infection and inflammation being 2. Good luck and God bless!

Hi H:

That is great news! I would keep a close watch on it and if it is still there in a few more weeks, ask for a biopsy.

Again, so happy for your news!

Beth
