Confused about dismissive doctor and contradictory test results

0 Recommendations

I'm 28 years old, and I recently had my first PAP in 6 years (for financial reasons, but BELIEVE me I will find a way every year from now on), and my results showed CIN III. My doctor was very concerned, had me in the following week for a colposcopy, during which he was able to see a lesion and took a biopsy. My biopsy came back negative, as did my HPV test and bacterial screenings. My doc asked me to come back in 6 months for another PAP, and could give me no theory or explanation on what could be causing the severe dysplasia (except he mentioned that it's "possible" he didn't biopsy the right tissue- WHAT!?!?).
Has this happened to anybody else? Is it normal/appropriate to get a CIN III result and be told to wait 6 months to see what happens? Should I stop worrying and be patient or seek a second opinion?
I'm trying not to be a hypochondriac, but something doesn't feel right about this.
Thanks,
Liv

many doctors will recommend action with a HGSIL pap test result even if the biopsy doesn't correlate to the pap....and particularly if he says he saw something during the colposcopy. i would encourage you to get a copy of your medical records (test results). did he do an ecc at the time of your colposcopy? did he do a repeat pap? maybe you want to consider a second opinion? i suppose a lot will depend upon how much confidence you have in this doctor...
