Concerned

Hi I am 26 and had the LEEP procedure about 5 months ago. I am currently concerned about somethings that are happening. I waited 4 months to have sex with my boyfriend after the LEEP because we has deployed. Well, now that he is home I have the problem that I bleed everytime that we have sex. It hurt the first couple of times but now I am able to start enjoying it again.(with mild discomfort) But I can't at the same time because of the bleeding. After sex is over the bleeding goes away and I just spot through out the day. I know that I am suppose to be starting my period on Sunday but am concerned that something may be wrong. If anyone has any comments please I am open to hear anything. Thank you!

I just wanted to say hello since no one has replied yet! I only had my LEEP yesterday so I don't have an answer for you other than maybe calling your doctor. Hopefully someone else who has had sex after a LEEP can give you some advice! Good luck, take care, & hopefully your problem is nothing to worry about.

I had slight discomfort for MONTHS after my leep. I wasn't warned about this so it scared me quite a bit. At my 6 month check up, the doctor reminded me it takes time to heal (there was a large area involved) and compared it to hitting a papercut over and over again. Her suggestion was to change positions if I'm not comfortable (this works out pretty well).

I did not, however, experience bleeding. You should definately go in for a check up (have you gone for your follow up yet?). Perhaps you're not fully healed and sex disrupts the healing process? (I'm avoiding using the word scab, but that's really what's happening in there- so if it's getting "nudged" that could explain the bleeding). Good luck to you!

The bleeding can linger for quite some time after LEEP, depending on how large a piece they removed. Also, some women are more sensitive than others, so if you are having sex in certain positions that allow for deep penetration, you will experience bleeding.

You may want to explore some different positions that allow you to control how deep he goes so he doesn't hit the cervix, as well as add in some form of lubricant or something along those lines until your body is completely healed. The Ph balance and secretions can change after surgery and take a while to get back to normal.

If anything, check with your doctor to be sure nothing new is developing. If you check out OK, then add lub into the mix and explore a new positions or two or three!
