Bleeding months after having a cone biopsy

0 Recommendations

I had a cone biopsy done in March 2009, due to my LEEP results coming back as me having mild dysplasia. I bled for a few weeks and then got my period as I normally did. My period usually lasts no longer than 5 days, except for my recent cycle, which began on September 10th. It's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't stopped bleeding. At times it's really light, and other times, like today, it's a little heavy. Is this normal? Has anyone ever experienced this?

Maybe it's out-of-whack hormones. I'm no expert, but I would say this isn't related to the Leep since you should be healed from that by now. I had this problem when I was younger and needed a D & C before it was all over. Are you keeping your GYN posted on what is happening? At the very least, she will want to check to be sure you're not getting anemic...take care, M

Are you on any type of hormonal birth control? I had the same procedure done (cone biopsy) and bled for about a week afterwards. Then it stopped and i got my normal periods. I have been on many birth controls including depoprovera (the shot), nuva ring, ortho tri cyclin, ortho tri cyclin lo, among others. With all of those i bled constantly, the shot was the worst. Apparently because there wasnt enough estrogen in those (some have none at all) it can cause spotting/bleeding the entire time. So I am now on Yaz which got rid of the bleeding as well as cramping etc. I didnt have a period from feb until this month.... which is normal since there are only 4 inactive sugar pills in the last week instead of 7. And medically there is no reason to have a "period" on pills since the reason you bleed is due to lack of hormones, not because of ovulation and having an actual period. I hope this helps. Hopefully this is why you are having this constant bleeding. And I know how annoying it can be.

I actually haven't been on any type of birth control for a while now, so it's definitely not that. But my first period after the procedure actually came down a few days earlier than it normally does, so I was bleeding lightly for a few days before I started the heavy bleeding. So I'm not sure if that's what's happening now and maybe it's just lasting a little longer. I called my doctor and I have to go in for a check up..hopefully it's nothing serious. But I will keep you posted. Thank you both for your feedback! :)

Sounds to me like you're horomes are probably very out of whack. Think about it, cutting anything out of your body is not natural causing the hormones to be unbalanced. Are you stressed out right now? That may contribute as well. But I bet its horome related. Typically people who have the HPV virus have unbalanced hormones. Have u experienced any bladder or yeast infections? Unbalanced hormones create a lot of those.

I had mine a few months ago, and am "out of whack" too. Don't know if it's the procedure or my period being mixed up that is causing the bleeding, but it's a nuisance. y gyn didn't seem concerned, so will continue to wait it out.

I really do hope it's just my hormones that are out of whack...i'm still bleeding heavily and I feel a little cramping now. I thought that maybe it could be a miscarriage, because I had all the symptoms and the doc said that I could miscarriage easily after having the procedure done, but my husband and I have been using protection and to my knowledge, the condom has never broken. But I don't know..l guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I've been having this problem since the second period after the Leep/cone (the first was while I was still bleeding from the procedure. I'm now had three periods since and they are all problematic. Now, I am 47 so there may definitely be some hormonal issues in play. I also have posted about bleeding between periods, but I also seem to bleed for a 2-3 days before period really starts. Some were going as long as 10 days total, but this week had two days of bleeding preceeding what appeared to be real period which now is gone. Part of mine seems to be connected to sexual activity too--am insisting on further testing at next doctor appt.
