Well if it were me, I'd being going back to her AGAIN and asking her to do a colpo. Perhaps there is continued dysplasia which she cannot see with the naked eye. Then again, genital warts in the vagina can cause this too as well as HR HPV in the vagina. A colpo can be done of the vaginal walls as well and I'd certainly suggest she view this area at the same time. Bleeding after sex, as you know, is NOT normal so your doc needs to work with you to determine the cause.

If you dont mind me asking, was your sex soft or hard. The reason I ask is because me and my boyfriend are on count down and I'm afraid he will go crazy and want to have hard sex as its been 4 weeks. What I mean is making love type of sex or the just go for it type of sex? Your post makes me wonder if I should wait the entire 6 weeks instead of 4 weeks. How many weeks did you wait b4 having sex?

hi needhelp -- could you possibly have endometriosis at the cervix, which might cause bleeding any time there's trauma to that spot? Also, I've seen pictures of the cervix after LEEP, and it really doesn't look back to normal for about a year. So your cervix might still be healing. But I agree with Dragonfly that so much bleeding isn't normal and your doctor needs to be able to give you an explanation.

hi corelli!
i dont mind that you asked!!it was soft sex and not anything crazy either(so no crazy positions)!we stoped having sex after i had my biopsy done(that was a month before the surgery!and then we didnt have sex until a little over a month after that!the first time it was like i got killed inside thats how much i was bleeding and the it got less and now it just stays the was it is!!

thanks scared30yrold and Dragonfly23 for the info!i will def. go back to the doc and ask her that!i just didnt know if i was just going crazy or if i should really worry!i almost felt bad to go back to the doctor just because i didnt feel that she took me seriously(and she was the second doc i went to)!

I bled a lot for awhile after my LEEP.
Everytime we'd have sex, there'd be blood.
As we kept having sex, though, it started to slowly go away. Finally, after about a month or so, it was all gone.
But it didn't last two months, so I agree that it would be a good idea to ask your doctor.

Good luck!

Good luck! I feel your pain. I had my LEEP 4 1/2 weeks ago. At my 4-week follow-up my doctor gave me the green light to have sex, so I did that very night. A day later I had very slight spotting (more like clear slightly pink tinged discharge). I called my doctor and said it was probably nothing, but that "if I wanted to" I could wait another week before having sex again. Well I didn't wait out a week, and three days later I had sex again and this time I was spotting blood, not discharge, and the spotting was going on both during and after sex. So now my plan is to wait a full two weeks before trying to have sex again. So frustrating! Keep us posted and I will do the same.

I'm glad to see this post since I was going to ask this question myself. I had a Cone Leep 24 days ago and am still bleeding heavily. I was bleeding so heavily that I went back to my doctor a week or so ago and she cauterized me again (which was probably a bad call since the bleeding stopped for a day or two and started up again as bad as before.) I have to wear an overnight pad and change it every hour so so which is inconvenient to do at work. No one understands my situation and I feel like my co-workers think I'm a hypochrondriac or something. If they only knew! I still have pain and I wouldn't consider sex now. I think I'd probably hemorrhage. My doctor told me she didn't want to see me again until our next scheduled appointment to discuss the biopsy results so I'm sort of on my own here. My question: Has anyone else had bleeding to this degree with this procedure? Thanks.

I had a leep biopsy done almost two weeks ago. My doctor said that I had should wait 6 weeks before I have sex. Do I really have to wait 6 weeks? What are the problems if I dont? Pain? Bleeding?

I believe the primary concerns would be compromising the body's natural healing process and increased risk of infection. Clearly, some people heal faster than others, which is why I would tend to believe that the six week waiting period would be the absolute worst case scenario, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

hey Marsha! I dont know a super huge amount of information about things, but I do know that when I was in post counseling, the ladies at the health department said that I needed to go to the ER if I was bleeding too heavily ("filling up more than one pad an hour") after my Leep surgery. If at all possible, see another doctor, I dont like that your doctor has thrown you out on the water in this. I will be praying for you, and remember, you're not alone. Promise. ~Hugs~

i have been bleeding for 4 weeks tomorrow after a cone ! its driving me nuts and seems worse if i get up to do something or if i go number 2 i know gross but its true i am fed up with docs not wanting to help

Hi JustLikeYou: I did end up going back to get re-cauterized, and that didn't help the bleeding. I ended up getting a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. You bring up a good point. We so often trust our gyns and do what they tell us to do without question. These days, healthcare is so exorbitantly expensive that we even hate to spend money on a consultation for a second opinion. (My mom is going through the same thing now regarding some extensive, costly dental work.) So sad.

I hope I did the right thing, and hope the pathology report indicates that I did! Thanks for writing, and take care...M

Hi Afc: I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I'm wondering if it's normal for certain people. I do know that my gyn told me a very large area of my cervix was affected, (more area to treat and bleed) and before I had the hysterectomy, she told me there was hardly any cervix left. She had said I had an "agressive virus."

I'm going to caution women again to follow the doc's advice to not take baths after a Leep. I did take one, and I wonder if it interfered with some of my scabbing, which increased my bleeding. Learn from my mistakes, please! No baths! Thanks for writing...M

I am having problems too,its little over two months now since my leep ,everything was ok so far ,i had two periods after my Leep which i considered normal.
How ever i was told to wait one month before resuming sex and i waited two instead and now i am spotting on and off.

After my Leeps, it seemed like the bleeding would never stop, and when I came on here, it seemed like my bleeding was excessive compared to others. I know I had a very large area affected, which meant more area to treat and heal. I imagine that it's difficult if you're in a relationship because you want to please your partner, but sex too early would only tear off scabs, irritate open wounds, and inflame damaged tissue, and prolong healing. I'm not a doctor, but I think any bleeding means you're not healed enough to have vaginal sex. Get creative! You will heal eventually, even though it seems like it takes forever!

Thank you marsha123,i personally feel its too early for that too,but i was going by the Docs advice ,but i realized its too early,i wish you well too and you are all in my prayers. We all need to keep the faith and help each other through these rough times.
God bless you all. .
