anyone with HR HPV over 3 years on here?

At 53 now and not clearing HR HPV..I have to play the 'wait and see' game besides all the natural vitamins/treatments done...Just wondered what would happen next?

I just rescheduled my appointment for October 23 because of my menstrual cycle. It will be two years for me.

Just wondering...has it caused either of your paps to be abnormal?

..had abnormal paps yrs ago when I was infected and needed a conoscopy..but was good for yrs ( and celibate) untiI I got involved with someone in the past 3 yrs who either gave me all new strains or the same reappeared..argh :(

Lalacton, this is why I think they should have specific strain testing every time they test you to see if it's a new strain or an old one that reactivated. If you look at the Digene site, they say the jury is still out on whether you get rid of HPV or it just lies dormant only to reappear.

jap91512, I had an abnormal pap (CIN1) in October of last year which led me to have a colposcopy. My colposcopy turned out to be normal. My pap in April was normal. I have a pap coming up in less than two weeks. I'm in a new relationship where I disclosed, but we haven't had sex yet. I am hoping I come back negative.

I spoke to my therapist last night and also pondered the possibility that I could contract a new strain. Since there is no test for men, I can't possibly know if he was exposed to it at some point in his life for sure. I also don't know if he has had my strain. This virus is a pain for women. While I don't agree with my doctor saying this is a "woman's burden" in regards to risk, it really is in the regards to knowledge. We are the ones who get the blame and shame, and we don't know if a guy has it or not. Because he can't be tested, he doesn't have to take responsibility if he is exposed to a woman with it.

Lalacton,

I have HPV 16 and have been married for 24 yrs to the same man. This Virus is a beast and yes, I've had it for over 2 yrs, paps always normal which I'm thankful for. As you may already know, I am following the Tori Hudson protocol and have had 2 series of Escharotic treatments/suppositories. I go for my pap at the end of this month, fingers crossed!!

From all the reading, research and pondering over HPV, there are still so many unknown's and yes, I agree, strain testing should be mandatory, but Insurance companies do not want to spend the extra money. Condoms are also a must, even though that doesn't guarantee you won't get HPV and possibly genetics to a point, if there is a history of cervical or ovarian cancer in the family.

My ND said if I'm still HPV positive, she will contact Tori Hudson directly to consult, but hopefully she won't have too....

Stay positive, healthy and proactive!

I am in a similar situation. In Feb of 2012 I had an abnormal pap showing LSIL with HPV present. My biopsy showed CIN 1. I began a vitamin regimen. Two weeks ago my pap smear came back normal. I called the OB/GYN office and the nurse told me that everything looks normal. I am now wondering whether the HPV infection is still active on my cervix...or if my pap smear was tested for HPV this time. Your pap returned to normal but is still coming back positive for HPV?

I've been HR HPV positive for over 5 years now. I'm looking at getting a hysterectomy soon.

Mililani, hysterectomy does not remove the HPV. I thought I was going to do that myself after having a child, but then I realized it wasn't going to get rid of this stupid thing that way. Newsflash to me! HPV can affect more than the cervix. That's why Bfly37 went to Mexico for Mel-1. She had cervical cancer and had a hysterectomy, but the HPV was still there and I think it was giving her vulvar and vaginal dysplasia. So she got the treatment and is HPV negative after two years. I want to go some time after the holidays as soon as I can save money for the trip. My boyfriend and I have been together for three months but have not had sex. He is very supportive of me doing this.

^^ I know about that, but that's the least of my concern. Cervical cancer is by far the most significant risk of HPV. Vaginal and vulvar cancers have much less correlation to HPV. Researchers say that only half of all vaginal and vulvar cancers are caused by HPV. So, there are other etiologies of either disease, such as DES, etc... As far as the MEL vaccine, I don't believe in it. It's pure fantasy, and I doubt it does any good. There are many other therapeutic vaccines that have had clinical trials without much success or significant outcomes. And, there has NOT been any peer review of that vaccine.

I was the same way when I first read about someone getting the vaccine. But then, I'm seeing that those administering it are actual doctors and researchers. Dr. Rosales had some studies published and trained at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda. This is purely investigational, but thousands have had success with it.

Good morning all: I am 56 years old and was diagnosed with having HPV for over 6 years now. I have VaIN and at first it was a wait and see approach but when it didn't go after 2 years it was surgically removed. Two years later another lesion and another surgery and at my six month check after the second surgery, another lesion was found. Before I had laser surgery this time (the first 2 times the lesion was cut out) I was put through a regime of using Zyclara. I would insert it into the vagina using a vagifem tab and plunger. After 6 weeks, the lesion was still there. The Zyclara made my whole body become run down and I ended up with 2 UTIs and walking pneumonia. I can't say it came from the Zyclara, but that's really abnormal for me. I'm the kind of person that doesn't get the common cold and flu like everyone else at work.

Next, the doctor gave me a prescription for the Cervarix vaccine. I had 2 of the injections and then laser surgery on 4 October. The doctor is hoping that the Cervarix will allow my body to build up an immunity and fight any future infections. It is a wait and see approach now. I go back for a recheck colposcopy on 21 November. By the way, I didn't have any adverse reactions to Cervarix besides a sore arm.

It is a horrible disease and the majority of people have no understanding of what HPV is about. I got it after being married for 25 years and monogamous (at least on my part). I have since separated and divorced, not because of the HPV. I did inform my ex-husband that he could be a carrier but don't know if he's taking precautions or not. It's his choice.

It is possible that I may never develop cancer, but the more pre-cancer I get, the odds are greater that I will. The disease is tough on yourself and you have to have a very understanding partner because let's face it sex is an issue. It's not fun when you are continuously sore.

I don't know if this helped or made everyone more depressed. For me, I have to hope that the Cervarix does work at least for a little while.

im 26 years old and i have HPV52 for 3 years. im so sad because of my illness.i have no hope.
