anxiety kicking in

0 Recommendations

I had an abnormal pap in January just some inflammation my Gyno wanted to repeat the test so I waited 6 months and I went back in. this time the test was very uncomfortable and I bled. I had CINIII about 23 years ago after ex-husband had given me HPV, back then I had conization done and everything fine since then. I started thinking back and remembered I had also had cryo at age 15 for irregular cell growth. I am 43 now and suddenly I am worried that the damn HPV hung around and is wreaking havoc. I don't know if I should be scared? Doc says 7-10 days until results are back from this pap, if still abnormal she wants to do colposcopy. am I just being neurotic about this ??? any feedback suggestions would be appreciated.

sounds like you're being realistic rather than neurotic! did they do an hpv test along with your pap? you definitely should have one done. it's part of the recommended standards for women over 30. if it's positive, then yes, you should have a colposcopy so they can take a closer look. and you may have the same hpv arise again, or, if you've had another partner and exposure since the ex-husband way back when, then you could have had a new exposure to hpv. sorry to hear you're going through all this. hang in there....and let us know how you're doing.

Thanks for the encouragement. I didn't have an HPV test but I will request one when I get the call. I hadn't really thought about any of this in years, guess I will start educating myself about HPV now. I wish medicine had come forward more in the time that has elapsed I cannot believe all they have to offer is the same steps! even the wait time hasn't improved..
