i have a LEEP scheduled..i just realized that there's been no mention of antibiotics. Is it common to be given antibiotics? when i had my wisdom teeth out i had antibiotics, wouldn't it makes sense after a surgery to ward off infection? Should i request a prescription if not offered?

I had the leep but didn't take any antibiotics my doc said I will be fine besides I try not to take them. but if u ask they will give them to you.

My doc didn't put me on them either. He said he's only had one patient get infected and it was someone who went water skiing 2 days after her leep.

I wonder why it's not offered? after any dental procedure i've always had antibiotics...i really really want to heal as quickly as possible i'm using the pill to skip thru my period because my doc says the period could slow down healing time..and i'm so i'm thinking maybe i should do a week of antibiotics...thoughts?

Normally, antibiotics are only adminstered before a medical procedure, if you have a history of rheumatic fever or a heart murmur. These days, antibiotics are not being over perscribed due to the super virus.

I was prescribed antibiotics after my LEEP -- maybe because it was done as surgery, under full anesthetic and they removed a lot of my cervix.

That's strange. My doctor prescribed a vaginal antibiotic cream that i had to insert for up to seven days after my LEEP procedure. I've been doing a lot of reading about what happens after these procedure and it seems a lot of people complain about infection. It's possible these are just a few cases but perhaps antibiotics should be prescribed or asked for.

the only rason i thought of infection was from reading this forum actually! and other people talking about issues they had post leep. I have only once taken antibiotics for a sickness years and years ago. And then i had a dental implant and i was prescribed antibiotics and when i had my wisdom teeth taken out i took my antibiotics...i dunno i feel like lasering off part of your cervix is pretty ripe for infection...
