Abnormal Pap 2 years after LEEP

0 Recommendations

Hi everyone,
I am 22 (will be 23 in January) and I had a LEEP done 2 years ago in July 2006, because I had severe cervical dysplasia. Since then I have had 2 normal paps. Had a pap last month and just got a call yesterday that my doctor wants me to come in to discuss the results. Obviously something is wrong. I figure it's the abnormal cells again. The soonest I could get an appt is 2 weeks so now I'm stuck waiting/wondering what's wrong now.
Anyone else this happen? Was it abnormal cells? Did you have to have a LEEP done again? If I have to get it done again will this affect my cervix when I want to have kids? (hubby & I were going to start trying in the new year) I know I may be getting upset over nothing.. I hope.. I guess I am just looking for info to ease my mind until I have my Doctors appt to find out whats going on. Any info/experiences would be helpful.
Thanks!

HPV Cervical dysplasia

hi, sarah. i would encourage you to find out the specifics on your abnormal pap; abnormal can mean lots of things. and, you can find out whether they've done an hpv test which many llabs do when a pap is abnormal. you may want to think about seeing a gynecologic oncologist. they're the specialists with cervical dysplasia/cancer, and if you have recurring dysplasia, you may want to see an expert. i had recurring dysplasia, and i know it's frustrating. hopefully, that's not the case for you. give the office a call - no need to wait to see the doctor to get clarification on the test results. let us know how you're doing.
