What should I tell my boss?

I have booked my surgery for my sling procedure. It is not for 3 weeks. It will be easy to deal with HR but what the heck should I tell my male boss? (we have NO personal connection whatsoever-in fact, I am not sure he is human) :-) The doc is saying to ask for 3 weeks off. Holy cow, that seems like something that he will want some sort of an explanation for. This is not something I will likely discuss with even my close co-workers. I would rather be 'general' somehow. But WHAT?! This is stressing me out more than the surgery itself!

I would simply say "I will be off for Surgery for ....". If he presses the issue I would just say "It's something my Dr. feels is necessary". If he continues then I would say "Female issues" which usually stops them dead in their tracks.

That is exactly what I was going to say. Good luck on your surgery!!

Thank you! I am just anxious to get this over with. I have put it off TOO long!
