Invention needed

I hope there is an person out there who can invent a product that is very much needed by the thousands of women who find that they have urinary incontinence as they get older, especially if they had children. Pads are available but are unsatisfactory. We end up sitting on a urine wet pad for hours until we get a chance to change to another pad which gets wet again soon after. There is a product available for men that collects the urine in a plastic bag attached to their leg. We women need such a product that draws the urine away from our bottom so we don't sit in wetness for hours.
Any inventors available? Such a product should be a big seller.

There are leg/bag caths available. Maybe there is an underlying reason for the incontinence. I was diaganose with Intercystial Cystitis in 2000. That is a bladder disease with no known cure or cause. ontrolled by diet and meds. You could also have a prolapsed bladder. I had a mesh sling put in 2007. And this past Nov. an interstim device. Talk with a urologist/gyn and see about having tests done to see if there is a cause for this. Insurance covers all this, so don't let them say differently. keep me posted and best of luck..

I'VE ALREADY GONE THRU ALL THAT. I've already had 2 surgeries to lift the bladder and the doctor is trying to talk me into a third operation. I won't go through that again. The results don't last long, maybe a year or so. I don't like the idea of a catheter. It requires something to be inserted into the vagina, into the bladder and worn all day. It doesn't sound comfortable. I'd like someone to invent something that isn't inserted.
About interstisal cystitis, to me, that's a term made up by doctors because they won't admit they really don't know what it is. After dealing with it for years, I finally figured it out. It's a reaction to the harsh chemicals used to whiten toilet paper. Women with incontinence urinate often to prevent any leaks. That's using a lot of chemically treated toilet paper. I used to have an irritation that went from the clit to the anus. I don't have the condition any more since I switched to chlorine free toilet paper. I only know of one brand that's chlorine free and that's "7th Generation". I have to go to a Health store to get it or order a case online. It's true for tissues also. Have you ever noticed how red and irritated our noses get when we have a cold or the Flu? Check out the commercial for Musinex. It shows a man with a very RED nose suffering with a cold. That redness we all get is from the tissues, not from the cold.
Thanks anyway for your concern.

My uro ran several tests to determine IC. Said I was a text book case. HHmm. I see him every six months for it. Never thought toilet paper and tissue could cause this. If you been thru all this, maybe you should stick to pads and underwear.

I do stick to pads and underwear but I'm not happy about it. Think about it. The pads are bleached white with chlorine also. It's hard to get those harsh chemical off our delicate body tissues. Our bottoms are constantly being bombarded, slightly burned each time we use these chemically treated products. No wonder so many of us have irritation, which doctors call interstitsal cyctitis. That way they keep us coming back for more office visits for which they get paid very well and they don't have to admit that they really don't know the answer.

Nobody ever wants to admit they are wrong I will try to think of something

Well, I have several patents and I am very familiar with the "invention" process.

The big issue here is that I am a guy (complete bladder incontinence since 1997 due to a motorcycle accident) so it is very tough for me to completely understand what you (a woman) are looking for. Like you, caths just meant terrible UTI's for me and I wear disposable briefs with no real issues except the constant "changing before I leak" worry.

I am currently working on a brief for extremely active men such as myself and I have several working samples that I think have potential.

If you are comfortable sharing your thoughts I would welcome the ability to see what we can come up with?

Mike, it's good to get a man's point of view. I have an interstim device, like a pace-maker in my body, helps to retrain the bladder. I had the surgery in Nov. 2011. I know people say they have pain with it, luckily, I have had good results. I have a fantastic Urologist and medtronic rep. Both are just a call away, and listen. Have you considered such a surgery, or haven't you heard of the device? I don't run to the bathroom like I did before the surgery, I don't wear pads, can actually sleep through the night, just plain feel a lot better. Please, keep in touch and keep me posted on your progress with everything.

Thanks Redhot1. I have had seven surgeries (one on my spine) and nothing has worked. I am aware of an interstim device, but my urologist doesn't feel it will help.
It has been 15 years that I have dealt with incontinence and I am "stuck" in my ways and I feel secure and confident with my system even though I am constantly changing.
Feel free to share your thoughts!

I believe the decision to see if the interstim works should be yours, not the doctor. I have dealt with bladder issues since 2000, so I know the feeling. Wish I had another option to offer you. You certainly aren't alone..

Hello... Do you have a urologist yet? I live in upstate NY and have a wonderful urologist. If I can be of help, please let me know.
