Hi folks!
I finally saw my new primary care doc. He and the nurse practitioner spent two and a half hours with me! They reviewed all my meds, collected my medical history, and then the doc asked me what three things were most important to me right now ( I used to use this tactic as a nurse and it works well!) I told him I wanted to get my pain from the fibro under control. I also wanted the visiting nurse as I had in Connecticut, and I told him I think I could use some mental health help. So he agreed! Thought those were all doable..He does want me off vicodin for the pain ( he said it just masks the pain and does not treat it) He put me on a low dose of Lyrica 100 mg at bedtime. He gave me his email address and told me to let hm know of any issues that are bothering me until I see him again in four weeks. He is going to handle my fibro himself. He said a neurologist ( from his experience) would probably not give me the attention I need with all the symptoms I have. He said a rheumatologist would do the same things he can do so why go to a rheumatologist. So he said I should continue with the acupuncture, and the primary issue would be to get the pain under control, then deal with the sleep issues, and the memory issues etc.. He has a plan and he included me in on devising the plan.. this guy is a saint!
So, waiting to get my first dose of lyrica tonight. Hope it works like the ads on tv say it does. Otherwise, I am having the usual buring back pain, and exhaustion. Hows everyone else doing? Cheers!
