The feeling of Standing

0 Recommendations

......It's been almost 22 months in my wheelchair now. 22 months of sitting. I forgot what it was like to stand. Until last week when I got up in my braces and was working on getting into my folks' truck. I stood up in the braces and immediately felt different. I was in a panic, saying something was wrong, I "felt" weird. After I calmed down I realized I could feel all the way down to my kneecaps. I could feel my lower back, my abs, my hips, my thighs, my hamstrings, part of my kneecaps.....and then a rush of blood surging into my lower legs. I realized, "Oh my god, I'm standing, this is what it feels like to stand"!!!! It was awkward, and I got dizzy, but I felt like progress was and is being made. I'm that much closer to being able to walk on my own. I've been stretching more and trying to get more exercises in, and still taking my nutrition everyday. It's going happen, I have faith and determination. I know you guys aren't quitting and neither am I. Someday we'll all walk together, i just know it.
Keep going, & keep believing,
Justin
