Dear Friends,
I love to read, so this isn't difficult for me to do. I read everything I can about my sarcoidosis and anything that can impact it, positively or negatively. For those of you who are as inquisitive as I am and are as leery of the medical profession as I am, I'd like to suggest a few good reads.
Our very own Foundation For Sarcoidosis Research (FSR), offers four fine pamphlets and if you're a member, they offer us one copy of each for free. You can't beat that deal and you can't believe how much valuable information is contained in each one. The titles are as follows:
Sarcoidosis and the Body.
SOS-Your Bones Need Your Help-Inflammatory Diseases and Bone Loss.
Sarcoidosis and the HEART
Sarcoidosis and the NERVOUS SYSTEM
(Neurosarcoidosis)
To order any of the above, call toll free 1-866-358-5477
or visit FSR online at www.stopsarcoidosis.org
Here's a beauty and one of my personal favorites. I could have chosen the title myself and it's written by a physician. Amazingly honest and full of information for all patients in dealing with their doctors. It is:
"HOW TO SURVIVE YOUR DOCTOR'S CARE"
subtitled: "Get the Right Diagnosis, the Right Treatment, and the Right Experts for You."
by: Pamela F. Gallin,M.D.,F.A.C.S.
This is about how we engage in making ourselves ill :
"WHEN THE BODY SAYS NO"
subtitled: "Understanding the Stress-Disease Connection."
by: Gabor Mate,M.D.
If you suspect you may be depressed:
"UNDOING DEPRESSION"
subtitled: " What Therapy Doesn't Teach You and Medication Can't Give You."
by: Richard O'Connor,Ph.D
I hope and pray that reading some or all of the above literature will relieve some of your angst and help you to be stronger and better informed while battling any disease. With my best wishes for your physical, mental and emotional health, and of course, with God's blessings... JanetG
