Has anyone ever had either of the two procedures listed above or know anything about them?
I have surgery coming up on the 23rd for a biopsy of my right hilum area and don't know yet how they're planning on going in ..... but I suspect it's one of these two. Dr. Kemp Kernstine is my surgeon and I just read some VERY unpleasant and disturbing things about thoracotomies on the internet.
I am being treated at City of Hope Medical Center and when I researched their website, I never found VATS even listed anywhere, not even when I did a search for it. I've continually heard that VATS is the way to go, if possible. And I do not have the option of going somewhere else because I lost my health insurance, and City of Hope has been gracious and generous enough to continue to take care of me anyway.

for ..... any info. at all would be greatly appreciated!!
