Ex's Brain Radiation, Day 4 of 15

0 Recommendations

Our formerly-fractured, now ducktaped-together family -- Dad, Son, and Mom -- all trooped to radiation today. At Ex's request, Son and I watched the make-ready procedure in the radiation room.

They place a stiff mesh mask with markers at the nose and ears over his face. Though his actual treatment is 46 seconds, prep time and zap time combined make his head look a little like a formerly mesh-wrapped ham when he first emerges from the treatment room.

After that, we came home for meds and then were off for a visit to my office. I cannot express how much I love these people. I find the office a little chaotic, and I think it would be difficult to work there. But visiting refreshes me, in a way I can't fully describe.

You'd have to be a telecommuter to understand what it is to work from the outside, yet feel like a valued member of a team, all dedicated to the goals of the company -- and the owner himself -- who unites us.

We returned home, and The Ex insisted upon grilling steaks. This was no easy feat, and Son and I both offered help, but he resisted. I could hear him whispering to himself in the kitchen, "OOOh! This is a GOOD cut of meat! MMMmmm! Boy! A GOOD cut of meat!"

We enjoyed our delicious meal and watched a couple good tv shows together, then we called it a night.

Son says The Ex is withering away. I say, he is withering toward wholeness, but it will be a little longer before Son truly understands this.

There will be no radiation tomorrow, and lucky for you, no verbose report to wade through.

We'll check in again on Monday, unless something particularly remarkable happens.

And, oh, by the way. Angel Number Three stopped by today with a Large-Type NIV study Bible, a page magnifier, and stick-on tabs to mark the different books of the Bible for easy reference.

Told ya so!
