I have been looking forward to November 8, 2008 when I am going to climb 510 stairs at the Bank of America in downtown Orlando, Florida in an attempt to raise money for lung cancer research. Of particular interest and need is research for early detection of lung cancer. I did a trial run yesterday morning & to my surprise made it to the top! I am 61 years old and had a right upper lobectomy 3 years ago for non small cell lung cancer. My surgeon believes he got it all. I still waffle between trusting those words and being afraid, as so many of you on this site have mentioned. My legs and feet are much stronger than I was aware of. I have been doing aerobic exercises on machines like the cross trainer and live classes for the past 3 years. What surprised me was that my breathing was more difficult than I anticipated as I don't get breathless exercising. I did on the climb. I hope you will consider going to the website for the stair climb:

If you make a pledge, please do so under the team named "Second Chance" in my name Sharon Cilono
I am only here today because of early detection by chance. I want others to have a better chance than having lung cancer found by chance. Please tell your family and friends they can help. Just as Susan Koman Foundation has raised money for research for breast cancer, we can get enthusiasm for doing the same for lung cancer. Thanks for your support.
