Woke up with blood in eye

0 Recommendations

I just have a question for the group, my wife woke up this morning with a blood spot in her eye. This has never occurred before. She is on Tarceva (1 1/2 years) and is on a maintenance treatment of Alimta every 3 weeks. She did go through 6 cycles of Cysplatin, then Carbo Platinum at the beginning of the year. We have called the doctor to get instructions. She has no problems with her vision. If anyone has ever experienced this or have seen this, I would appreciate some your experiences. Thank you.

Mike

The only time I experienced this was on the Friday after a Thanksgiving when I was a teenager -- I forgot I didn't have my glasses on and poked myself in the eye. You know, they literally forgot me as I sat in that waiting room at the ER? It usually takes too long but sometimes things happen! Of course we're talking almost 40 years ago.

It could be a number of things, of course, wait to talk to the doctor. It could also be, well, that she poked herself in the eye. Strangely enough, it happens! I'd be anxious to see if this is something that happens (blood spot I mean) with the medications.

Sorry I can't help on this one.

Hi Granny,

Thanks for your reply. I am just a little concerned this morning.

Mike

Don't blame you, I would be too. There are a lot of things that happen that I haven't heard about :) and this is one. I think we have natural defenses about poking ourselves in the eye, takes someone like me to accomplish it awake much less asleep!

Let us know what the doctor says.

Our Nurse practioner called back. She said sometimes these blood spots are caused by sneezing or vomiting. She said as long as it does not hurt and that it does not affect her vision. This should not be a serious thing. I am extra sensitive about side effects because my wife lost half her hearing with her Cysplatin treatments. You never know what is going to happen. i do appreciate your response this morning. Have a good day. Mike
