I haven't noticed any postings for amysumayura. Not sure if I have that correct or not. Just curious if she is still there. Responded in a caring way so may times. I appreciated her!

Hi Jam,
I'm here! I'm here! :-)
I check in frequently, even if I don't post as often as I used to, but that's only because we have so many other exciting things going on at LCA that are keeping me busy.
For example, many of you may know that we have a Phone Buddy program. Some members of the community volunteer with us in that way. It's a great program that all of you should know about. We match up people who are going through lung cancer with someone to talk on the phone with who has been through a similar diagnosis and treatment. We are in the process of doing a major overhaul to our training program. It's very exciting, but time consuming. But we expect to be recruiting some more Phone Buddy volunteers hopefully in October, so stay tuned. If you are interested in being matched with a Phone Buddy, call us at 1-800-298-2436.
In addition, we have just submitted a proposal for a symposium at a professional conference in 2009. We are working with some other cancer organizations on this. If we get accepted, I'll let you all know and I'll tell you more about what we are going to be doing. Fingers crossed!
We are still working hard on ways to get our voices heard on Capitol Hill. If you haven't gotten people to email their senators about the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act, please visit this link to learn how to support it. http://capwiz.com/lungcanceralliance/home
We are also getting ready to move into a brand spanking new office in a few weeks. It's very exciting for us to finally be in a permanent home! If anyone even ends up in the DC area, please let me knwo so you can stop by and see us! We've worked with a few of you to set up meetings with your representatives in Congress and Senate, and we are always willing to make that happen when people want to come pay a visit and get lung cancer on the agenda.
Just a few of the things that are taking up my days!
I'm always around, even if I'm posting less. I read posts several times a day and try to respond where I think I will be helpful. If anyone ever has questions or comments, please feel free to email me at apearson@lungcanceralliance.org or through my profile here.
Warm wishes,
Amy
