I had VATS lower left lobectomy May 1, 2009 for stage one nodule (lymph nodes clear). (Primary lung cancer found after breast BRCA2 stage 1 right lumpectomy--found on a followup CT.) But after about 18 days, I began a wheezy squeak when I inhale deeply. My dr. says it is my left upper lobe adjusting. Any of you experience this? It is unnerving.
Lots of squeeks and tweaks and wheezes go on initially. It has been over 2 years for me and I had much bigger surgery than yours. I still get aches and pains and strange breathing from time to time.
Thank you for the reassurance! The anxiety is as bad as the pain. Tryin' to be brave, but it was such a shock to find the primary lung after the breast cancer----coincidence or God's hand. My drs. say how lucky I am to have found it so early....
My husband had VATS done last september and had a wheeze for awhile. His Dr. also told us it would eventually subside and it did a couple of months later.
I also had a wheeze for about 6 weeks. The only time I wheeze now is usually from pollen or dust. Not very often. Hope this helps. I'm very glad you were able to have VATS.

Yes, I am glad to have had VATS! I had LAVhysterectomy (precautionary) on the same day and the VATS was supposed to just be a biopsy. The nodule was not growing, so it was just a precaution. Turned out to be stage 1A.
Not to worry. it is normal. I still wheeze nine months post op but it hasn't stopped me from exercising at a high intensity level although it is a little scary at times.
