Whats Next? Any more positive stories?

Hi, I've posted a couple of times regarding my friend. He's 46 y.o./stage 3b (Maybe even 4 now). He just finished Cysplat+ VB-16(?) and a full course of Radiation. Though his tumor shrunk, his nodes grew larger(during Rad & chemo) and he is having a new area in his lung biopsied this week. His spine and illiac crest lit up on his PET scan, where they did not prior to tx. Right now he is going by what his doctor said and he is devastated. She told him 2 years max. (He has full custody of his two young boys.) I have gotten some great responses on this board, and I thank anyone who can tell me any positive stories to relay to him. I am trying to get him to believe me when I say there is hope. Also, what is the next step for him? I thank all of the kind and brave people who post here. It makes such a difference to have people who care and who will share their stories. Thanks.

Barbra--tell your friend to not give up hope, and, if possible, regard the two year max as a challenge. Although I was initially dx at the age of 45 as a IB, it has been more than three and 1/2 years and I am now stage IV and enrolled in a phase 1 clinical trial. Obviously my current survival predictions are not very positive, but you know what, I feel great and still ready to fight. I don't know where your friend lives, but having an excellent and progressive oncologist is key. Also--look into clinical trials. I am finding the trial very tolerable and I believe my tumors are responding (I will know for sure when I'm scanned in one week). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and your friend may contact me as well. Best wishes, Linnea

Barbra,

Please send me the name and # of your friends doctor. Since she's so good in predicting the future I dearly need the upcoming winning lottery numbers!

Seriously, send your friend here. This is the definitive resource on this planet.

Barbra,

I agree with George. Send your friend here. He can see hope and feel the positive attitude here.
