What was your experience with Baylor

0 Recommendations

My husband has stage NSCLC 3a or 3b. We are currently in Austin and have the option of going to Baylor in Dallas or MD Anderson in Houston. I know Anderson has a stellar reputation, but it will be harder for us since we have very little money and no place to stay. We have family in Dallas, however life is more important that money and I don't want to make a bad decision. If you've had experience with Baylor would you please let me know what you think?

I am so sorry about your husband.
Here's a great way to get your answer - ask your doctor where he'd go if he was in the same situation.

best wishes and hugs

oh, I forgot to mention we got the diagnosis at Baylor since my husband is working in Dallas. Soooo, kind figure he'd say Baylor! Thanks for your response though.

Hi There:

Sorry to hear about your situation. My dad was diagnosed with sclc on may 17th at baylor in dallas. I am familiar with MD Anderson as I grew up in Houston and they do have a stellar reputation.

Our experience at Baylor/Texas Oncology has so far been great. My dad is happy with the treatment thus far and so am I. He has responded well to the chemo, cancer is no longer in his liver at this moment and lung mass tumors have reduced by 50% after 2 rounds of chemo with 4 to go. His doctor is Kartik Konduri and he in my opinion is excellent.

Staff there is excellent, professional and most of all caring. There are exceptions, however, as there are everywhere. Some of the lower level support staff are not the greatest. Overall though his care has been top notch. It is important to note that Texas Oncology is on the Baylor campus but is a separate facility.

MD Anderson is a great place from what I have read but our experience with Baylor has been great so far. Hate to sound wishy washy but if you have any specific questions please send me an email.

Best wishes for you and your husband...
