Cancer Surgery Avastin Folic acid

This sounds like me. I was stage 1A before surgery (upper left lobe removed) and after was stage 3A (spread to inner lining of the lung and one lymph node involved). Now everyone is different and everyone is treated differently, but my oncologist had me do 5 weeks of M-F radiation with chemo on Thursday. About 3 weeks after that was done, I continued with the chemo, but it was once every three weeks for 4 infusions. This chemo was stronger then the chemo I was on during radiation. I did lose all my hair exactly 2 weeks after I started the stronger chemo and it has just started to come back.

And if you get the chance, get the port. It saves your veins and it makes infusions so much easier. I love/hate my port, but sure glad I have it.

Blessings,
Barb

Frank, hang in there, it's still beatable! I know it's a rough road and we will be here for you. Let us know what your onc decides to do. It may be just radiation for now. Are you taking folic acid? You can get this from your doctor. It will help build your immune system. Stay only with natural vitamins or supplements that are already in your body. Don't go using mushrooms and all that stuff off the internet. B-complex vitamins are also helpful. Good luck and take care, JC

thank you very much guys

You are in my prayers Frank.

Frank50, My guess is Frank we are about the same age. I am 51 soon to be 52. Anyway I had the middle and lower lobes of left lung removed in June. I just finished 4 rounds of chemo because one of my lymph nodes had some cancer. They staged me 2b. I am also in a clinical trial with avastin that I will continue until August as long as it does not cause any complications. The chemo treatments were Gemzar and Cisplatin. Food tasted bad, I was tired after treatments, and there was some nausea but I was able to work during treatments. We live in a miraculous age when it is possible to beat the beast. My prayers are with you. Stay positive, walk, drink plenty of water, and get better. Bill
