I read a e-mail last week that asked us to check out John Kanzius site www.Kanziuscancerresearch.com, so I did cause I have been trying to find out what had happened with him after his 60min interview, I had found the site but did nothing about it. This time I read everything I could, flipping to each site. If this comes about it is for eveyone, not just one kind of cancer, all kinds plus other problems, and how it is given is nothing compaired to what we all have gone through. It is two years ahead of what I thought it would be when I listened to 60 minutes--after I listened to it and read everything I sent a donation and e-mailed everyone in my e-mail address book. If this thing goes the word cancer would not make you sick evertime you heard it. Please take the time to check this out-send what ever you can-contact anyone in the articals that you can and send the site with your true feeling about what is going on in your life to everyone in your addressbooks-lets bomb bard their site with as much as we can, and then lets do it again in one month. Those that didn't take the time to read whats going on might take the time when you send it again. Please I am tired of watching my husband, family members, and friends die a horrable death of something we all know could be stopped. Maybe if we keep pushing we could get the human triles moved up even more. Thanks Shirley Bing

Hi Shirley, I have seen the segment on 60 minutes you mention. As I remember it was quite interesting. But since then no one has grabbed this golden ring of an invention. Seems a little odd to me that after this amount of time no one would have financed this endeavor. Just seems like someone could make a billion dollars on this. - John

Unfortunately the stages of clinical trials must be met before the FDA will approve treatment of any kind on Humans. I agree it is going to be a great invention and I pray my husband will be around long enough to reap it's benefits. I don't think bombarding the site will get things done any faster. It's our government that holds the ring here.

When I first heard about this they said human triles were 5 to 8 years away. That was a year and a half ago. Now as of the last post on the 19th of December they are looking at two years. Now if they are moving that fast, and the only bridge to over come is money, well we can't take it with us. Please go on site and read about it. I to am also hoping that my husband can be here, but when they were talking about 5-8 years I know it was out of our range. I don't see why it would hurt anything to bomb-bard--its seems like the things that get done in this world are from the small groups that just keep pushing and don't give up.

Like Rhonda said above, there still have to be numerous levels of clinical trials that take between 5 - 8 years before the process can be approved for release.

And I can't believe it will go any faster since if it would prove to be a solution to cancer over all the other treatments, it would cause a collapse in the oncology medical field and pharmaceutical industry that no one is going to allow because it's still about the money.

Sorry to be so negative and no one would like to see a cure more than me and those on this board. I lost both parents to cancer and I have it now. But that doesn' t change the reality of the fact that business is business and profit is profit. And who knows, even if it is approved, they still may say that you have to undergo the "standard" chemo treatments before insurance companies will pay for this one. That's what they have done with the new targeted drug treatments like Tarceva. That way they can still make their money and then you can have the treatment that may have put you in remission from the very beginning IF they would have allowed you to have it.

I guess I'm just tired of those types of things happening. We see all these changes going on in the world and the ones that are making them are small groups. Everytime I say a prayer and hear about them taking prayer out of schools, I think of the few people that were the ones that make it happen. Why can't we as a group of cancer people complain about these things? Other countrys do human studies much quicker than we do. Don't get me wrong, I love my country, but the reason it is so great is because we do have voices, all of us. Why not push to have the studies done on the terminal patients that are willing to do it. At that time what do they have to lose. My husband was one of the ones on the Tarciva study, he did well for three years. I can see where your coming from about the money talks first but so do small groups. If we do nothing, nothing will change. We all get upset about breast cancer getting all the funding, its because a small group got out there and started to make changes. We need to be pushing for human triles for those that have no other choice, for studies that will not kill the person before the cancer does. Everytime I get on this site some one is talking about what someone told them or wrote to them about different alturnitave ways to slow or stop the cancer. I have tried to find out about LDN, herd about it and have read the web site but no one knows what to do to get it. So how good is it really? I know I'm rambling on but there has got to be ways of getting our hurt across to others without it being our deaths. Bing

I completely agree with you. It seems so unfare to keep these things from terminal patients but I believe the other issue is the hipocratic oath to do no harm. If doctors put humans in trials that have not been approved and the patient had a bad reaction then there would be lawsuits and what not and no doctor or medical facility will take that risk. Even if the patient signs a release form there will some hotshot lawyer that will try to sue them for malpractice. As cheesie too said, it's all about the money. The money other people are making not the money to fund it. Rhonda

At one point I would of agreed with everything that you are saying, but I have seen first hand many mistakes made in hospital that because the patient is terminal the lawyers won't even take the case cause they figure the patient will be gone before the case would come to trile. I watched these things with my mother and father both before they died. I have seen it with my husband, and I don't believe in law suites for just the reason that you are talking about. But it seems like when a person gets to a certain stage in the ending of their life the whole medical mind set changes, its a why bother when the time is short. The hippocratic oath got lost along time ago, when the main reason a doctor was a doctor was to help and take care of people because of the great love of life. How many times have we been to doctors that we fill like we are another number. How many times are we in the offices for hours cause they overbooked their patients, not because they are taking so much time with each one of us. Don't get we wrong because I know there are many out there that do still have that compassion but I do feel that the numbers are very small. The times that I have been or anyone that I know has been in medical trouble the nurses took more care of what was going on, with the doctor on the phone with them. I have watched three of my grandchildren be delevered by the nurse with the doctor coming in the last ten minutes. It is a big money business, and that is fine because I know how long they have to go to school, the cost that they put out and the insurance cost they put out for malpractice suites, but it still comes down to the compassion that is no longer in the field of medicine. I had a good friend that lost her 11 year old son to cancer 7 years ago. They took him to many of the out of state hospital trying to get help. We see all the commercial on TV about how much each one can do for us, but when it comes down to it the bottom line, they are on TV to make more money. When we look at what is going on in our country and the jobs that are being lost, who is doing the building, who is hiring the people. The government and the medical field. Wow I'm sorry I am getting carried away but we do see these groups of people who push and push tell they get what they want in government and in the medical field, a lot of us just don't want to be bothered with it cause it is a lot of work and time, and with what is going on with most of our cases time is something that we don't have. I don't know if it would help but with lung cancer being so under funded and most thinking it is self inflected I can't see were it could hurt. How hard is it to take some of the things we see and read on the internet, hit forward to all of our address on our address book and let it build. I know that I get tired of getting all kinds of junk, but sometimes I stop and read some of it and am glad I did. To a lighter side I am still looking for some information on LDN, and getting no where. I have sent e-mails, read everthing that I have been given and still know no more about how to get a hold of the people that can help me get the stuff. Any other ideas out there. I hope I haven't hurt anyones feeling cause that was not my intent, I know it is hard, I am watching my husband go down so fast that I don't know what to do, and maybe my venting will be my salavation I don't know. John Kanzius is a friend of my family. He has had several offers by companies to buy him out. He refuses due to the fact he is afraid that his research and hard work would be shelved. He has used his own money and money he could raise to continue this very important research. This could be the cure for several types of cancer. He is not trying to make money like the drug companies. My mother died of lung cancer two weeks before christmas. He had called two weeks before that to say human trails could start even sooner then expected and to hang on. Unfortunently, the drug tarcevia had damage her lungs so severely that the damage could not be undone. She didn't die from the lung cancer but the drug she was given to fight the cancer. Supporting this research with money will speed up this research and allow for human trials to start sooner.

If everyone who is a member on this site contributed $1.00 to Mr. Kanzius's research, that would be about $3600. If everyone on this site contributed $10.00 ... Well, you get the picture. This research is very intriguing - I am so glad to hear that Mr. Kanzius refuses to sell out, and I pray he lives to see his invention become a treatment reality! In the meantime, any of us who can could consider opening our wallets and/or letting our families and friends know about contributing to this great cause!

Thank you so much ssgtrd and Wennot, sometimes we become so wrapped up in all the bad we forget that there is good out there and things can change, my husband said to me tonight he doesn't think he will make it after this next chemo, he is giving up and it's because of all the bad he hears. I so pray that everone would just put even a small amount toward this great and giving man. If we do, all of us what Wennot asked and then pass it on to all our friends could you imagian the results. We all know the cost of cancer our of our own pockets but we can give even if was just one dollor. Shirley

I am going to reiterate what I have already said before. The more money that John Kanzius gets, the sooner human trials can begin. I am directing most of my charitable giving to the Kanzius research. MD Anderson in Houston has expanded the number of researchers working on this project from 2 to 13 just recently. I am hoping that this will be the cure for cancer. My oncologist says that the Kanzius research offers lots of promise.

Susan M

I have so much faith in John Kanzius and what I believe will be the cure for cancer. I just pray that no one else can intervene and destroy the good work that is going on for money reasons. What is wrong with people and our country. I do love my country, but I can't believe all the greedy people out there that would rather make money instead of saving a human life. I know they really don't want to cure cancer, just treat people so they feel like they care. It would be devastating to the big Pharm, etc. if that happened. I'm so disolusioned about it and very sad that this is going on and I feel so helpless. If John Kanzius should no longer be with us, I don't trust anyone to do the right thing with it.

These are some of the reason that we need to spread the work and send what we can to support him. Have you ever wondered why places like American Cancer Society have not been sending money to push this project after all they are suppost to be raising money to help all of us and our loved ones. And there are many more cancer raising places that could be helping, lets start sending e-mails to them asking why they are not sending the money of John. Shirley

Wow, lots to think about here. I am sorry Rhonda4acure & chessy-too, I disagree with you. If it will help at all, I am all for bombarding any web, site any time, any where. You are right about the Government, but we also live in the USA. We have the freedom to speak, and the bigger the crowd the bigger the notice. I see changes in the way people and Government look at this kind of reserch changing every day.
Scream everyone, forward this to everyone! Be the sqweeky wheel. I want the cure, I dont want to be sitting on my hands waiting for death! I refuse to think that we cant do something. Even just 1 buck or 10. Even just an e-mail or a letter. Anything is something.
The Lord put us in this boat, but he expects we should row for the shore. Not just wait for the currant. The Lord helps those, who help themselves. He will change the outcome if he chooses. But the research that he allows and the things that we already have in modern medicine is amazing, compaired to only 10 years ago.
I also think that we need to stay positive. Even if the only thing that happens is this research extends the quality of life of a Cancer patient. Each moment, each second is precious in the life of a loved one.
I am so sorry ssgtrd for you loss. It is inspiring to me that you are still on this website speaking your mind. Helping those that are still here have hope.
I also hope that chessy-too & Rhonda4acure, will keep there chins up. Who know why these things happen. Who knows what the cure is. But I honestly believe that No-One, not even those fat cats you speak of Want anyone to die just to line thier pockets. The world isnt always great, but I believe there is more good than evil. My heart and prayers are with all those who have cancer, or have a loved one with cancer. Hold on, the Light will Come!

Hi Shirley,

Well, I just wanted you to know you are not pleading in vain. I will donate to this fund and hope even more people here will donate also. Thanks for the heads-up. I don't believe there is anyone who wants to be on cancer's team.

Laurie

You might consider starting a fundraising page online. I checked and FirstGiving.com has an account for the John Kanzius foundation. You create a personal account, link to that particular non-profit, personalize your site, and then contact friends and family and tell them about your fundraising efforts and provide them the link.

I used FirstGiving for a walk my friends and I did in November for the National Lung Cancer Partnership, with an original goal of a couple thousand dollars. We raised over $11,000! I have since created pages for several worthy organizations I'd like to see my loved ones support, and will occasionally send around a note asking them to consider a donation.

The technology is fairly easy to use and it is a way for you to do low-pressure fundraising. Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind is that people are going to be willing to support your effort because of the battles you are fighting. Why not take advantage of that? Let something good come of it. Almost no one told me no when I asked for donations...

We have so much on our minds and on our plates, but it sure does feel good to do something outside ourselves. If not us, then who?

--Steph

So many of us feel loneliness, helpless, anger, and like we're standing still with life going on around us. We can't control this nightmare disease but we can all become stronger advocates by getting involved. We can become fundraisers for LCA. We can educate ourselves as much as possible for the patients we love and care about. We can send e mails to our congressmen and state senators advocating lung cancer awareness, the need for gov't funding towards research research

sorry but computer skipped ahead of me. I have been a part of this community for over 5 years. My husband was dx over 5 yrs ago with stage 1V NSCLC and given three months to get his affairs in order. He is a tough fighter with a very positive attitude and we are once again traveling on a rocky road. We see the oncologist Mon. to hear what tricks he has up his sleeve for further treatment. I don't recall anyone talking abt third line treatment options. If someone is familiar with this PLEASE write back and I would appreciate prayers to keep him safe and strength for both of us.

We must support advocacy for gov't help towards research, increasing cigarette taxes, and public awareness about Lung Cancer and it's victims. We need to be effective together.

Yea, BUPS! You are right on target! I love to here positive things.
Yesterday in Salt Lake City, they put into effect a No- Smoking law in all bars. Smokers must go outside. The smokers are all up in arms. Madd'er than Heck! They want to know why anyone should have the right to change the way they live thier lives. (an actually statment off of the news) All I could think is, "We dont want your Lung Cancer thankyou!"
My Dad is a non-smoker. And still has Lung Cancer. We are running out of "main" stream options. We need help from these other options. And we need them now.
I pray for your family and mine.

I have been so excited about this push. I have e-mails daily from my family and friends that have read this site and gone to the Kanzius site and sent money. My daughter even put the whole thing on my Blog. I am praying for all of you, you are all such insperation to me. As a group we can make a difference. I got an e-mail back from the American Cancer Society telling me that the moneys that they raise go to people that are in the scientific field and they have the say over it. I think that is sad cause its usually all our loved ones that give the money and they give no one else a chance to have any say. They are a big organization. Shirley
