Hi Everyone,
First and foremost, a BIG THANK YOU!!! From Chelsea and I both for all of the responses, well wishes, and prayers from everyone... it has been very uplifting during this difficult time...
Unfortunately Chelsea's Pneumonia has worsened and is now involving her entire right lung ...(they call it a complete white out) They were unable to keep her oxygen levels up and she was transfered to the Intensive Care Unit yesterday morning....
They have called in an infectious disease specialist to adjust//change her antibiotics. She is too weak to cough a specimin up to see what type of bacteria she has in her lung. If she doesn't improve within the next 24 hours they are planning a bronchoscopy to see if they can get a good a specimen. Although it is kind of risky, they need to know what they are up against, so she can get the correct treatment....
She has been scared, as well as the rest of our family over this change in her condition.... We do have a wonderful support system not only with family, neighbors and friends, but here on Insire as well!!! It is also fortunate that I work as a nurse at this hospital and they have been very supportive and accomodating to our family. Normally they don't allow many visitors or even anyone spending the night in the room with the patient's. They have allowed family to take turns coming in to see Chelsea and also given me permission to stay at all times in the room with her... Of course if they didn't allow me to stay with her... Chelsea would not be very happy and speak her mind even though she is very sick!!! She had told me she thinks the umbilical cord has "regrown" lol... I know she needs me and I wouldn't be any other place, but right next to her, helping her get over yet another bump in the road......
Her dad brought in a web cam and hooked it up to my laptop last night, so she could see her brothers yesterday. My youngest is not allowed to come into the hospital.... and she really wanted to see them!!! It made her smile too!!!
Today I asked my family, friends to not visit, so Chelsea gets much needed rest....
Yesterday she was considered in critical condition.... Today the nurses say she is in serious but stable condition....which is much better.... still not out of the woods, but showing some improvement from yesterday!
I will be sure to update everyone as soon as I find anything out....
Please continue your prayers for Chelsea and our family.... She is a tough cookie and I "know" she will pull through this....
Continued prayers for everyone from us!!!
Love and (((HUGS)))
