Cancer Pain

Hi Amber,

I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but I do know my Mother's potassium dropped to low levels a couple times during her cancer battle. Her doctor suggested potassium pills, and/or eating more potassium-rich foods, like orange juice or bananas. I know when it gets really low, it could do damage to the heart, so that is the concern with low potassium. It can also cause a lot of joint/muscle pain. In her case, the potassium pills worked to raise her levels - and then as she was able to eat more, so did her regular nutrition.

Only note though - I remember my Mom saying the potassium pills burned when she swallowed them, especially when she was recovering from radiation. I think my Dad actually just dissolved the pills in a glass of water, and/or made that water into ice cubes that she could chew. That made taking it easier for her throat.

Hang in there!

Amy

thank u so much for the information.
