I have heard of taking Turmeric as a cancer fighter many many times in all my research and I am thinking of adding it to my diet in drinks so I would also be interested in hearing if anyone is taking it.

Yes, I take it for RA and it works great. It's the only one of the herbal treatments that actually seems to help with joint pain.

Thanks. I am very leary of taking anything. I have weened myself off all medication and supplements and feel great except for the joints, & Misc. I am 70 and don't want to mess with bunches of pills. So far so good..... I think I will try this one. Hugs

Read your bio, you sound like someone I would enjoy talking to. Love your spirit and fight. Keep us posted. I am two years free and just had a scan, but have to wait till the 17th for results - try to laugh it off, but it is always that little fear in the back of your mind.

Hugs

Thanks for your reply. Sending you hugs and positive vibes for your scan on the 17th. Let us know how you make out!

My husband picked up a bottle of Turmeric Curecumin that is 500 mg. Is that enough. What do you recommend? Thought I might start with two a day??? and see if I get relief. Your thoughts please.
Hugs

The onc told us that tumeric can help with nausea, and then the next day there was a recipe in the paper for ginger/tumeric tea to help with nausea. Never heard that it could also help with pain. Very interesting.

I am learning all sorts of great things about it. Research is showing it is a cancer fighter, immune system booster, arthritis pain, nerve damage, and on and on.....geez to think my mom used to use it as a spice.... I will talk to my Oncologist in a week but started a low dosage today.

I take 500 mg of turmeric a day and recently I've added flax seed which also seems to help.

Just read another article about turmeric - it suggested if you are already doing cottage cheeze and flax oil as your morning breakfast (I am and have been for quite some time - Dr. Budwig from Germany study) to add a teaspoon of turmeric to it. This is what I am going to do.

I've been on turmeric/curcumin for 8 years. My CAM doctor (Dr. Raymond Chang - www.meridianmedical.org) put me on it as part of my protocol as soon as my chemo treatments stopped.

There's great research on this supplement!

Thanks Alisa ... I have already started taking Turmeric Curecumin and giving to my hubby also. Found my brother-in-law was taking for arthritis, My Mother and her two sisters and their father died from Alzheimers (my mother with early onset) and they say this helps stop that.... Can find nothing bad about this spice. If it will just let me sleep better and ease the pains here and there I will be a very happy camper. Hugs

Since you mentioned sleeping better, you may want to look into melatonin also. Not only can it help with sleep, but studies show anti-cancer and immune boosting properties also.

Hugs back to you!

Here's what I do, based on all research I could find it is only absorbed through intestinal wall in the presence of black pepper . Turmeric is a key ingredient in Indian cooking, although the spice really isn't very strong. There are a lot of interesting statistics about the very low levels of cancer in Indians that dont migrate to a western diet. I dissolve the turmeric and about halve as much organic pepper (it tastes less strong than the ordinary pepper I had in the cupboard) in some flax oil. Then I either cook with the mixture, mix it with food, put it on salad or just swig it down. I have no clinical proof it helps but noticed general inflammation has been at all time low and joints at an all time best while adding to diet. This is also a much cheaper way of adding turmeric to your diet. The tabs are expensive and allegedly under absorbed.

Very interesting. I love pepper and put it on everything I eat along with a dash of sea salt. Since I have just started the capsules,, I think I will wait and see how they work before I get more drastic. Thanks luv and all the continued success to you.

Hugs

The curcumin extract I take has bioperin (black pepper) for bioavailability. Researchers are continually working on the curcurmin/bioavailability research ....

Hey, just found that a Dr. Ajay Goel of Baylor Cancer hospital in Dallas has been a top researcher on this. I have emailed him questions and advised that I would be there for my scan results tomorrow and of course speak with my Oncologist about it. It also looks like i can buy the Bioperin (black pepper) by itself to add to the Turmeric Curecumin that I already have. It does appear that the Bioperin helps you absorb. Since My family has history of Alzheimers (early onset) I am inquiring info on that also., Will let you know what I find out.

My Oncologist approved my taking the Turmeric Curecumin. I also emailed Ajay Goel, Ph.D.
GI Cancer Research Laboratory at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas who has been working with this. He confirmed that Bioperin (black pepper) was needed for absorption. So since mine didn't have it, I stopped at vitimin shop and purchased Bioporin capsules. Will give another report when this has a chance to get through my system.

I get mine from lef.org. It has bioperine in it already.

I take curcumin with bioperine when not on chemo. I read about of form of tumeric that is supposed to be even more available than curcumin with bioperine and it stays in the system longer. Life Extension has replicated the study they say, with the same results.
