I had emailed the alliance and this is part of my reply:
After reading this go to http://capwiz.com/lungcanceralliance/home/ and click on LCA Advocacy Action to support this bill.

After over five years of work, LCA is proud to announce the introduction of groundbreaking legislation in the US Senate. Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE) co-sponsored the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act which authorizes $75 million in lung cancer research for the first year of a five year plan. If you want to write to your Senator and ask for his or her support, go to our website and click on LCA Action! We need your help to gain support for this landmark legislation that will increase lung cancer survival rates.
We have also launched a National Awareness Campaign and need your help in getting the ads out across the country! Cal Ripken, Jr, Hall of Fame Shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles, has renewed his commitment to increasing lung cancer awareness. http://www.lungcanceralliance.org/press/faceinthefight/index.html
Lung Cancer Alliance engages and educates key policymakers at the state and federal level to promote an increased funding commitment for this disease. We have started a campaign to obtain at least 1% of all tobacco funds in each state and have had no less than six states introduce legislation calling for increased funding for lung cancer research and support for early detection.

Each week we send E-Alerts to keep advocates around the country updated on the initiatives underway and the progress being made. If you are interested in receiving these, please let me know.

I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks again for reaching out! Feel free to call me at any time!

Thanks for the information.

Sylvia

I wrote my Senator, Charles Schumer (D) and my Representative, Peter King (R), NEITHER ONE EVEN ANSWERED ME.

(I didn't bother to write my other Senator, Hillary Clinton, she doesn't care about anything except herself....when she was first lady, I wrote to ask her to support breast cancer, a lackey answered that she doesn't take positions.....anyone who won't take a stand against cancer is forever useless in my view.)

All we can do is keep trying. I really think we are making headway. As for Miss Hillary, I have no respect for her or the clan.

At my age, I well remember FDR's short fixes that remained permanent and killed peoples' desire to help their own and work. So I have no patience for the give away programs. But let's not turn this great site into political.... Lets just bug them until they start helping our cause.
