Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share some thoughts. When I walk into the hospital and go to the oncology dept. the room is always filled with cancer patients and I begin to wonder... Does everyone have cancer of one sort or another? Are we all just in line waiting? What do we all have in common that so many of us are developing cancers. My answer is the foods we eat, the air we breathe. Most likely it is the food we eat. The processing must be killing us. It can't be coincidence that so many people are suffering.

Sometimes when pain is severe and the doctor wants you to take so many different medications you might want to think about getting a spine reallignment. It can work wonders without damaging side effects. It is hard enough fighting this demon without having to fight the drugs that are supposed to help fight the demon.

I'm babbling, it has been that kind of day.

C'mon guys we can beat this thing. We have to do it on more than a medical plain. I truly believe there is no disease that GOD does not have a cure for. We just have to keep busy in the vineyard until we find it.

I wonder this same thing. Although my tumor turned up being benign, I am still glad I found this stei and will still hang around because I learned so much about this disease in such a short period of time, I believe I can be a resource. :) Plus I am a good pep talk guy.

My Grandpa smoked 50+ years. But never got cancer. According to Doctors today he would be a walking heart attack. He would take a shot of blackberry brandy in the morning, and used to save the Bacon grease from bacon and eat it with his bread in the morning! Thing is though, everything eaten was natural.

I also have a theory of mine that cancer starts after a certain amount of training. The human body is very adaptable. I often wonder about how the body reacts to cancer causing agents in the body and cellular structure adapting to kill those off. Once the cancer causing agent stops being introduced to the body, the cells are adapted to killing that and instead of seeing those agents, don't, and end up mass producing when there isn't anything there to fight.

Let's say eating french fries caused cancer.

Over the course of 20 years of eating french fries, the body adapts to killing cancer insitu cells from the french fries consumed. It is trained to deal with the carcinogens. Now take away those carcinogens, and the cells fail to adapt back to their normal way of behaving. They are going to act a certain way to get rod of the french fry carcinogen, and for example let's say that they mass produce and attack. Now take that away and you have cells that are still mass producing and are forced to go somewhere to find a blood supply.

Just rambling here but there are so many causes for cancer now, I often wonder if there isn't something very simple the research is missing.

Also: I would like to know why some people are immune to cancer. (This has been proven in labratory animals with certain mice) Similar to how baboons are immune from HIV.

I seriously doubt it is as simple as food. The genetic factor is pretty significant in cancer. If it were primarily food related half of the US population should be dead.

I think there is a lot to the theory of environment-and that probably involves what we expose our bodies to in terms of food, air, chemicals etc. The first thing the oncologist asked my husband after asking about smoking history was 9/11. He works down the block from where the towers were. Used to come home and complain about the burning smell for weeks. Can't convince me that didn't have something to do with getting this disease. His union offered medical followup for all employees following the attack-they actually had had a union meeting about this but unfortunately Bill felt fine and symptom free and decided to pass on that. I know it isn't the only factor but I know too many people affected for it to be a coincidence. Gotta start treatment with providing our bodies with a better environment and nutrition. But, that is just my opinion.

First, maybe we just have better diagnostic technologies today and so we KNOW of more cancer cases? Second, if in fact more people are getting cancer today, maybe it's because fewer people are dying earlier of other things?

Ellen

That's a good point too. People are living longer to see Cancers happen. Detection is a lot earlier as well. We will never really know what it was like pre-1800 Era because no one really knew anything about it. People could have (and most likely) been dying from cancer all over the place but without medical records and such, there just isn't anyway to do a study on today compared to the past

I read that adopted children take on the cancer risk of their adopted parents more than their biological parents which means it does have a lot to do with diet, but I think it's more about what we don't eat than what we do. We know there are many chemicals in plants especially brightly colored plants that kill or inhibit cancer and yet we eat a diet that's very sparse on fruits and veggies. In cultures where they eat more plants and less animal fat there is usually less cancer. That said, the genetic factor can't be dismissed because clearly cancer seems to run in some families.

Hi Nelzter.

I wasn't even thinking of pre-1800! My maternal grandfather died in 1959, probably of lung cancer but there was no diagnosis. (He was considered to have died of old age -- he was in his early 70s!) And my mother died in 1963 at the age of 57 of a tumor in the trachea, which they discovered only 36 hrs before she died since it was blocked by the breastbone on x-rays, the only kind of scans they had. And there was no biopsy or autopsy, so we never knew if it was cancer or not. I suspect I may be third generation (at least) lung cancer patient but have no hard evidence. Oh, and my mother's mother died in 1914 at 34 from an infection following gall bladder surgery -- no antibiotics then. She didn't live long enough to die of lc. We forget how far medical technology has come in a very short time.

Ellen

One-half of all men and one-third of all women will get cancer. Scary.

The good news is, I've had two different types of cancer - so if I and two other men were standing together, I'd have taken care of the cancers for all three of us!

I agree that genetics plays a definite part. It seems it would somewhat determine whom is susceptible and whom is not. The whom is number seems to be very large. For those that are I believe nutrition plays the largest part in controlling the beast. There has to be balance in the cellular level and how to achieve that for each individual is the key, as we are all different.

I also agree with you Neltzer about the training because the years of eating carcinogens destroys the balance and once you stop you then must correct the imbalance which is very difficult. The autonomic nervous system sends out the instructions to the cell producing organisms and if the instructions are wrong due to imbalances well... need I say more.

Medicine has come a very long way and is showing great results but it is only part of the big picture.

Let's keep sharing. I know we can beat this!

Yep, it's many factors. Some DNA and some we contribute to (pollution, smoking, etc.). I have researched botanicals/nutrceuticals for the past 9 years, since my diagnosis and really feel it helps in prevention and recurrence prevention. There's a lot of studies where certain supplements/herbs actually shrink tumors. Unfortunately, until it becomes a money-making machine for some pharmaceutical company, we won't hear much about it from mainstream arena. But I think strides are being made ... doctors are losing money to CAM providers, so some are trying to get on board.

By the way, I had wonderful doctors. I'm not Alternative. I'm Intergrative.

Steph, I love discussions like this. I also live in NYC. I work midtown. If you are close, one day we can meet for lunch ....

Alisa,

I work and live in the Bronx. I agree totally with you about the pharmaceutical companies. Most of the hospitals we speak about are owned by pharmaceutical companies. Money is always in the picture. I do agree though that many doctors are slowly getting on board. I think they are starting to see that drugs are not the total answer.

There is a great article from John Hopkins that summarizes some answers to your question beautifully. Here is their recent cancer update:

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties.

f. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

g. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
h. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence,

Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

i. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

j. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS HOSPITAL , U S - PLEASE READ
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed ArmyMedical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Steph,
Great topic. After reading Dr. Robert Youngs PH MIRACLE LIVING (he's a microbiologist) his book really helps you understand how the body is made up and works and how if we can get our bodies in a PH Alkaline state, cancer cannot exist in that environment and it will be killed and eliminated out of the body. (Makes me wish I had really paid more attention in science class.

I would love to have everyone read the book and take from it what you feel will help you find healing.

He says cancer is activiated when we allow our bodies to become over acidic. I believe with the processed food, pollution and chemicals that are put in our food & water is why we are/can become sick. His way of life is vegan.

I cannot/will not be totally vegan. We are raising our own chickens and we know what is going in their food. They graze daily on fresh grass and the fresh eggs are incredible. We have a garden of fresh veggies every summer. We do not use any kind of bug killer or chemicals anywhere on our property to ensure it will not leak into our well water or our compost which we make by bagging our grass. It's all natural around here.

I believe everyone has cancer cells and it depends on if/when they become activited. Stress is a huge factor. Dramatic life events can trigger it to become activiated.

I believe if you incorporate the PH protocol into your therapy I believe it can help you reduce and eventually eliminate it out of your body. I believe in the PH protocol.

That being said it's the hardest thing to do. We are so programed into using the fast/processed foods
that we don't even realize our bodies are not getting the nutrient it needs and craves which is why the body ends up attacking itself.

Becky :)

Thanks for the information. I will have to do some more reading. It is becoming more and more obvious that the answer is simple but not easy. Short of being able to do what you do Beckylynn it is difficult to live healthy. It is definitely more expensive. I have noticed my monthly grocery bill double since Ben was dx with this demon. You really don't pay attention until you are forced.

Let's keep fighting. Together we are going to win this battle. How do you measure the pH level in the body accurately. I was measuring Ben's pH level daily with the first morning urine and it was always alkaline the whole time he was on chemo. I think that was the supplement he has been taking. It is just amazing to me how difficult it is to get the body back into balance. Everytime I come on the site and hear of 1st, 2nd and third line treatments I feel like people are slowly getting boxed in with all the toxic chemicals. There has to be a point where you fight this thing more naturally. I guess that is easy for me to say being a caregiver and not the victim but I find it so scary. I lost my mother to this demon 18 years ago. I vowed not to let cancer beat me ever again. When Ben was dx I was not shocked or surprised. I had been telling him to stop smoking for the past 18 years. He smoked for 37years. I just felt ready to put on my armor and fight. That is what I have been doing from day one. Knowledge is truly power and being here with everyone sharing their knowledge has been totally empowering. I know that GOD has a plan for us all and cancer is simply devil's work. Keep seeking and praying!
