shortness of breath

Hi there..... I was diagnosed with nsclc in jan 2006 and had a lobectomy. I have had regular checkups, ct scans and all have had good results. Just within the last week I am having a noticeable shortness of breath and can't seem to be able to take a deep breath. I'm due for my next scan in 3 wks but don't know if I should wait until then. I live in NC & the weather has just turned windy & cold (48 degrees)---- has anyone noticed a difference in their breathing in cold, windy weather? I'm hoping that's what this is............ any thoughts ??

My husband and I have both had more breathing problems this fall than in the past. Our doctor and pharmacist both say they're seeing more respiratory and more serious respiratory problems earlier this year.
Pneumonia is particularly high here along with just the plain old crud.

It never hurts to check in with your doctor if you continue to be concerned. Sometimes we don't feel good just because we don't feel good, hope that's all it is,

I had a lobectomy aug. 25th. same diagnosis as you and I definitely feel a difference with the cold weather!
I always think there is something wrong with me because my surgeon said I should be fine blah, blah, blah.

thanks guys for the quick response......... that makes me feel better. Hope you all are doing ok as well.
I wish I had known about this site a long time ago. It really helps to read similar views, situations, etc.

Though it is likely just the cold weather be sure to get checked out - I had a pulmonary clot a few months ago and the way I knew was sudden onset of shortness of breath. Other than that I didn't have symptoms. I would call your doctor and see if you can move the scan up.

Hi Kathy,
I had a Lobectomy in April of 07. I also have Asthma which has exasberated 2 fold in the past 2 months. My doctor told me even if I didn't have Asthma, I will need to cover my face this winter while outdoors. I also developed allergies since then too which can add to the problem. This year has been a real problem with allergens for a lot of people. I hope all is well with you now.

I agree with Marcia. Cancer patients have a higher tendency for clots. You should contact your doctor regarding your increased shortness of breath. It could just be the cold weather, allergies, etc but you need to be sure it is not anything serious.
