Send a thank you to those responsible for the $20M for lung cancer research

1 Recommendation

Hello Everyone,

LCA is preparing a formal thank you letter to send to the key members of the House and Senate who made our new $20 million lung cancer research program happen: Congressman John Murtha (D-PA), chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee on Defense, Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense and Senator Thad Cochran (R-MI), the ranking member of the full Senate Appropriations Committee.

Nothing would mean more to them than to hear from you—those who will be directly impacted by this new program and the research it will fund. Please send me an email with a note saying thank you and telling these key legislators why this is so important to you and your families. We will attach all of your personal notes to the more formal letter and hand-deliver them to the offices in DC. Send this to anyone you think would be interested in saying thank you. Let's send a positive message that Congress can’t ignore!

Thank you all! This is a great step forward towards finding a cure for lung cancer!

Subject: Thank you for the Lung Cancer research money

Note of thanks to Congressman John Murtha (D-PA), chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee on Defense, Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense and Senator Thad Cochran (R-MI), the ranking member of the full Senate Appropriations Committee.

The research money for lung cancer is desperately needed to find new cures and improve lung cancer survival. For far too long lung cancer research has been underfunded. My wife has Stage IV Non Small Cell Lung Cancer diagnosed in July of 2007. We and many friends and relatives are praying for a new cancer treatment that could cure her or extend her life expectancy.

Thank you for the research money.

Sent you a note of thanks just now. It is amazing that NIH is only now starting a Lung Cancer Center in Bethesda. Right now, most researchers are assigned to the Neck and Thoracic Surgery Division.

Thank you to all who have sent me an email thanking the legislators. We have about 50 at this point, but need more! Encourage your friends and family to write a little something. This is laying the ground work for next year as well!
