Scarred - Getting Results of CT Scan Tomorrow 7/2

0 Recommendations

I am getting the results of my 3 month ct scan again. They had to do another one because they weren't sure if it was scar tissue or what. I am praying the cancer hasn't come back.
Plus I still am fighting shingles to boot.

Jen

Hello All,

Well still no real news. A few very small spots that showed up the last time have gone. A few small spots are still there that he can't tell if it's cancer or not. Also a few small spots have shown up on my liver that are also to small to make a call.

So Tuesday July 7 I go in for a pet scan and will get the results on Thursay July 9. If they are early cancer than he will give me the course of action. If not then I won't have to go for anything (which is what I am praying for).

In the mean time these damn shingles an my back and chest are driving me absoultly nuts.

Thank you all for your prayers, love, support and friendship. It is truly appreciated.

Jen

Dear Jen:

My prayers are with you that the cancer has not come back. Oh geezz, shingles are the worst. Did your doctor give you an antiviral and Gabapentin?

I had a terrible case of them last October. Those meds really helped a lot. Sending many good thoughts and prayers your way, and take care of those shingles too.
Much Love,
Marylou

Hi Marylou,

I got the anti-viral last week. The 4.00 perscription but it didn't get rid of it. I didn't get the pain medication because it's quite expensive and I don't have the money for it. He is going to check that too and see if we can't get something over the counter.

Thank you so much for your prayers and input on the pain meds. Everyone here is wonderful.

Jen

Praying for you tomorrow!
Hugs,
Deb

Prayers are going out to you. So sorry about the shingles too. Tell them to contact social services if needed - but if you need another medicine that will help- there should be funding to get it for you.

God Bless.

Oh Jen,
I feel so bad for you. Did you get enough of the antiviral to last for at the very least 2 weeks? Gabapentin is for nerve pain and that's exactly what shingles cause, pain to all the little nerve endings.

One thing I can recommend is Advil Liqi-gels for over the counter pain. I use it and it does help a lot for certain things. The bottle on thos Liqi-gels say take 1 gel cap. Baloney on that, when the pain is bad I take 2.

If I remember right, you have only had the shingles for about 2 weeks. Sometimes it takes 4 weeks to get rid of them. If you need another RX of the antiviral you should call and get your doctor to give you another RX for it. Please post tomorrow and let us know how your scan came out. I'll be thinking of you.
Much Love,
Marylou

Thank you all for your support!!!! I can't tell you how much it's appreciated. I got a 7 day supply of the anti-viral which I just finished up this past Monday. I still have some of the blisters and that dang blasted itching which is maddening. But as much as I am afraid of the ct scan results tomorrow, is how much I am going to fight this. Too many of us have passed on the past few weeks from this beast called lung cancer. Too many new friends have come on here with posts of loved ones or themselves being diagnosed with lung cancer. Damn it I hope I can fight not only for myself but for them too.

Jen

wishing u the best of luck on ur ct scan i pray that it is all negative for you I will be praying for you

Hi Jen I had a ct scan in Feb I was told it showed a 1inx1in solid mass behind my esophagus ,I asked if it could be something besides cancer I was told 1%chance its not cancer. So I was laying on the ct table waiting for my biopsy when the doc comes out and says " I don,t know what it was but the ct shows its gone". So I went home. Jen scar tissue can be just that scar tissue , sounds like you have a great doc that wants to be 100% sure and on top of things. In the mean time I,m sure everyone here has had sleepless nights a time or two before we get our results, hang in there I,m praying for great results for you.

Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts and support and input!!!!

Jen

Sending many prayers and hugs to you!

Shingles, on top of the nerve wracking wait -- I'm sending you good vibes to get through this! Hang in there and breathe, take care of yourself and let us know what you learn. Great bunch of people on this site -- you are not alone. Some days just really suck!

Dear Jen,I have hd a little row of shingles that showed up 8 days after my lobectomy.I never had chemo. They dried up in about 2 weeks. However at times across the front of my upper Left thigh I have a Burning stinging pain even now 2 months later.I have found that looser& softer pant fabrics have helped. They are more common late in the day and after I go to bed.If the blanket or my hand even touch the leg at times it triggers the pain at times.I am slowly getting better. If any of these little tips can help you ,i will be glad.I am saying a prayer for you,as I think people often don't realize how relentless these shingles can be.I have been up 3 hours or more trying not to take anything strong for the pain.Hang in there.Andi B

Thank you all!!!!

I am saying prayers for a clean scan and the good riddance to that nerve pain...
god bless Sandy
