Results After 2 rounds of CAV For Second Line Treatment

2 Recommendations

Hi There
I mention a while back that the Cancer had returned and was slowly spreading after just 2 months after Cist & Etop reduced the Cancer by about 1/3..
We had decided on the 3 drug CAV Regiment..(Cyclophosphamide,Doxorubican or Adriamycin,Vincristine).
I had rec'd 2 regiments of these ,then a scan last thursday to check for any results..
Well It did go as planned to receive the 3rd regiment yesrday,,
Because the CAV is (As we all feel) working very very well!!!
My Dr.Indicated (with a smile) that so far ..that not only has this stopped the spreading but also has reduced this 2nd line spreading too!The spreading is stopped and is being reduced further than the 1/3 reduction in the first line treatment! After just 2 sessions(and of course now a third (from yesterday)...
I would like to say that We have been Truly Blessed with this! Truly Truly Blessed...I hope by passing this along others can ask about this as a second line treatment for re-currance in EX SCLC..I am being treated at Sloan Kettering in NYC..
As my Dr has said..This is certainly not for ever..There are many hurtles ahead ..and they will come..Yet this is a great response..I am shy about things because this disease is so fast spreading and so unfare to all of us who have it and are careing for someone that has..But just for now I am so pleased that I have been Blessed this way..
Never Never Give Up..
Thanks For all The Support
Dan

Good News!.........I also have SCLC and love having options that have worked for others when mine comes back. I get in trouble from family and friends for saying "when it comes back" but I know the odds and I just want to be prepared. I had not heard of this CAV Regiment so thanks for sharing.

I am so happy for you and to hear that CAV is working!!
We were just at Sloan last night when the dr. recommended CAV as a third line treatment for my Dad.
We are seeing Dr.Pietenza. I LOVE HER!!!
Anyway she recommended Topetecan as the second line treatment for my Dad,which he will be starting in two weeks as soon as his WBR is done.

Dr P also mentioned a clinical trial which is out of phase II called arumbicin(spelling??) It is out of Johns Hopkins University, you should look into it,she had mentioned that it is very promising.
She is also conducting a different clinical trail herself as well. It is only in Phase I but could be worth a shot.

KEEP FIGHTING!! There are people who are looking for cures everyday for this bastard and one day they are going to find it!!
The goal is to control this disease and it looks like you are doing a hell of a good job doing that!! Congratulations to you!!
I will keep praying for that miracle that we all need!!
