But there is some promising research being done on lung cancer and with additional funding new medicine could come out in time to help my wife. My wife has stage IV lung cancer.

"Each year, 60% of new cases of lung cancer are diagnosed in people who have NEVER SMOKED or quit decades ago! There have been major advancements made in screening and curing most cancers, but very little advancement has been made in lung cancer research. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States across all ethnic groups - 1 in 3 cancer deaths. Lung cancer will kill more people than breast, prostate, colon, liver, kidney and melanoma cancers COMBINED.
Of those diagnosed with lung cancer, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men NEVER SMOKED.
The 5-year survival rate for breast cancer is 87%, prostate cancer 99%, and colon cancer 64%. The 5-year survival rate for lung cancer is 15%.
Lung cancer will kill TWICE as many women as breast cancer.
Only 16% of lung cancer patients are diagnosed at an early enough stage to be cured, and the majority of lung cancer patients will be diagnosed so late that they will die within one year of diagnosis.
