Request for prayers and thoughts this week..

Well, mom is finally feeling better after the bout of low blood pressure (had one kind of bad day yesterday). We go for our PET scan on 01/08 and are scheduled to see the doctor to review the results on 01/19. Please pray and think happy thoughts for us this week. I actually have to go into the PET scan with mom (after the first 3 minutes) because she is terribly clausterphobic and we fear she won't be able to stay in the scan without me. This time around though we are going into an actual room rather than the book-mobile-like contraption she was in before, so hopefully she won't have the same anxiety she had before. I have never hoped for anything this much in my life, but I am hoping and praying that we get good news. I've not been on this site for a few weeks because I've been really freaked out about all of this again. So for that I am sorry. Thanks as always for the support and suggestions, and here's to a better 2009!

Jessica - I will pray hard for your mom that her results are NED - I have to ask why are you being asked to wait 11 days for your results??????????????? I get my results the NEXT DAY - please speak with your oncologist and tell them that you can mom can NOT deal with the stress of waiting so long for the results - that is UNREAL. The technician who does the test has the results right then - he reviews them and sends them to your oncologist to review and then he tells you his conclusions - there is NO reason you need to wait 11 days - OMG - be proactive - get in his face - they're used to it believe me!!! The first time I cried my Onc was "trained" - get my drift here????
Good Luck!!!!

I'm with Karen on this one!! Eleven days is WAY too long! Get him on the phone, or if his office is close, go in and annoy his nurses and the doc himself to get something closer to the actual scan date. Nag, Nag, Nag - even doctors have lunch hours - so if his appt. book is full, he can bring a sandwich in the office with you while he gives you the results!!!

We actually had the follow up date with the doctor scheduled first (at our last apppointment he told us to do the pet right after the new year) - mom scheduled the PET on her own. It's totally not the doctors fault - I told my mom to reschedule the follow up with the onc for the following Monday. :)

Will pray for you and your Mom. I know the dread and fear you feel. Bless you & your Mom.

I am glad she is going to change her appt. with the Dr. We always had our PET results that day, usually an hour or so afterwards we followed up with the doctor and that was nerve wrenching enough without having to go home wait several days and come back for results.

I will pray for you and your mother.
God bless.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, have you ask the doctor for something like valium, they usually are more than willing to give her something. Many, many people including me are claustrophobic. I didn't like what they gave me the last time for an mri of the brain, made me hallucinate but valium always worked good. They would rather you lay still and you cannot if you are not relaxed. Please have her ask either primary care or oncologists, no sense going through that if she does not have to...

Prayers are with you both. I know the dread and the fear, keep your chin up and all will be well. hugs to you both

Jessica,
My prayers are with you and your mom. Just remember when you are "freaked" out that we are all in the same boat and this is a wonderful place to come, even if it's just to vent or get some much needed support to get us through. Please keep us updated and may God bless you.

Oh they have definitely accounted for the clausterphobia - She is going to take a double amount of xanax and hopefully that will do the trick. Both the onc and the radiologist have asked them to have something stronger on hand if needed too. Mom's first CAT scan at the rad. office was done with the radiologist holding her hand the entire time because I wasn't there...They've been great about the clausterphobia! :)

Prayers said!

Thought and prayers are with you and your mom.
