My sister has started her treatments. She has radiation everyday for 6 weeks and chemo once a week for 6 weeks. Is this the normal treatment? I guess it just sounds like a lot to me. They haven't made her ill as of yet. I thank God for that.
Also, has anyone had any dealings with Cancer Treatment Centers of America? I see it advertised on tv all of the time.

It's not unusual, it may be a little aggressive but, aggressive is usually good when dealing with this crap.
Then, hopefully they can cut it out altogether!

I hope this works for her. She's already had a kidney removed a few years ago from cancer. It was contained inside the kidney, so she didn't have to go through the treatments that time.
It will be a great day when there is no more cancers.
I am stage 3A NSCLC and I am on my last week of treatment. I am doing 5 weeks of radiation with one day of chemo thrown in there. When this is done, my chemo is going to once every three weeks at three times the dose. What stage and type of cancer does your sister have?
And FYI, chemo if kicking my butt, so just be there for her. Keeping her place cleaned up, like doing the dishes or cleaning the toilet is the biggest help, even when she doesn't want you to. Someone doing the housework means more to me then any dish they could have cooked. Plus the fact that I only eat chicken broth, popcycles and sometimes pudding.

I had chemo once a week all during radiation, and then at the end of that, two more high-dose chemos three weeks apart. It was very doable, but I admit I was sure ready for a break after the last one. I was told they were being aggressive, and I figured if I was going to fight this thing might as well give it all they could. As Barb said, anything you can do to help her would be wonderful - I found it tends to wear you down the longer it goes on.
I have nsclc. My treatment was radiation for 7wks. along with chemo once a week. then after a 3 wk. break I had just chemo every 3rd week. Radiation also makes you very tired & can burn skin. There is a site online for radiation & chemo patients called Lindi skin. Check it out.
