Please help me understand, I know cancer is so unpredictable....

Well the PET Scan results are in.
Dad's original mass in his (r) lung has grown, and the SUV has increased from 4.5 to 11.1. There is also mestastatic to his liver. It reads, 2.8 x 6.1 with an SUV of 4.1.
I guess my question is now what? I am so lost, sad and I just don't know what we are in for. His Oncologist told him that they are referring dad over to the Radilogist for maybe radiosurgery, if he happens to not be a candidate, they are going to start Chemo again.
My questions is this? I have heard such awful outcomes when this awful disease has spread to other organs. What should we expect, please share your stories...

First of all, I am so sorry your father has to take this journey again. However, there is still hope. I would recommend he have an assay done ASAP. He would need a biopsy and there is a lab right there in CA where it can be sent. This would tell which tx would work best for his type of cancer. It's not trial and error. He can start a tx while waiting for results, but can't have any chemo before the biopsy. I will put the link at the end and you should call them and find out all the info you need to know. You can ask if his insurance will cover the costs or work something out if he can't afford it. This definitely sounds like the best route for him right now and give him the best chance at beating this again! Don't give up-stay positive. Take care, JC
