Well I had to think about where to post this, good news, treatment, or my old stand by....

Okay, well in 48 hours I will be resting in recovery after my surgery! Jacob and I leave for Moffitt in the morning, I have my preop tommrow and then we go pick my parents up at the airport, surgery 11am on Thursday!!!

I am a mixture of nerves and joy that I am able to have this surgery! I know that I will be fine, and my Dr is one of the best, and Im young and healthy... Just not looking forward to the foley!!!! haha That and the epidural still keep me up at night, but really I am a big boy Im sure I can handle both, and it's really not that bad and a few days is nothing... I have been waiting since 7/24/09 to find out once and for all what this tumor is! So I will just buck up and deal with it!

Thank you again to everyone here for all of your help and support in getting me this far! I will update this as soon as I am able via my Iphone... Im sure it will be on Friday before I get to a regular room and have access to my phone!

Have a great week!!!!! I know I will soon!!!!!!

I have been thinking of you! Just today went back to see if I had the day of your surgery right.
I think it should be posted under "Great News".
I will be Praying and sending Possitive thoughts your way!
You will Sail through this and be so Happy in a week or two!
I had 2 epidural's last month for a Back injury, I Hate being Sedated, I am a Big Baby about it! So I had no sedation, No relaxant, Nothing! He did use shots of Lido to numb it, I felt pressure, but really, not bad at all.
Please add me to your facebook so if there is an update I will know. My e-mail is lizard6303@gmail.com.
Best Wishes, I will keep you and Jacob in my thoughts.
Big Super Hero Hugs! Holly

Don't worry too much about the Foley. It will be inserted while you are asleep or at least sedated. Don't know if you have ever had surgery or not but they give you good stuff. I always say they could cut off my head and I wouldn't care. Best wishes and prayers coming your way.

Dearest Christopher,
We are all cheering you on, and you will do great. Families will bond, and all the other dreaded details will seem quite routine in the hands of your medical team - they do these things for a living you know! :-) When I had a really bad surgery many years ago, they played Chick Corea in the OR and told me to "dream in color" before I went under. 7 hours later felt like a minute, too strange, but you will have an arsenal of tales to tell after this, and it will soon be just a memory. I am praying really hard for you - take good care and stay strong - which you truly are. And remember, Dream in color... Peg

Good luck on Thursday and in your recovery. Try to relax when having the epi, it's not bad really. You just have to stay still and not even twitch. The rest is under anesthesia, so you'll never even know. You have a good support system at home and here.
Take care, JC

Dear Christopher: You'll do great! You have a top-notch doctor, Jacob by your side, along with so much other support. I was apprehensive about the epidural also, but it was just like a quick pinch and it was over. Before I knew it I was awake and asking for (would you believe!) FOOD! (I guess some things never change! Ha!) Sending prayers for you and your surgical team. Blessings! Brooklynda

I hope its smooth sailing from here on out for ya. They do give you "good" stuff before..during and after surgery. I've been told by 3 different surgeons...I talk all the way through surgery. My last I sang. Although your not supposed to remember anything about the surgery, I have now 2x. Guess..that goes along with not being fully knocked out how else could i talk/sing? lol dont worry..i have a high tolerance of their "knock" out meds and they do eventually get me completely out as they will you..but really SINGING? lol.
good luck and GOD BLESS YOU.
robin

Good luck to you Christopher! You will be fine!

I don't even remember getting the epidural.I remember intensive care and wonderful nurses.Prayers AndiB

Hi hon You are going to do just great. Best hands possible They drug u up so the ep and cat are not even felt. You have been thru the hardest part of not knowing.................Sounds crazy but they will give u a pump for pain which u push on your own..Hate to say it but never wanted to leave. LOL Went to Moffitt also and they are such pros......... Will be thinking about you and have NO DOUBT you will come out of there with a greater appreciation of life. Dr Sommers is one of the most leading Docs in the field of LC. Went to Doc Robinson ( the other lung surgeon) at Moffit and owe him my life. Relax, understand you are so lucky to be operable, and get this tumor out of your body. Thinking about you and my best.......Kim

Hi Christopher:

Just adding my 2 cents in to say You will do fine, and don't sweat the small stuff. You won't even remember the foley, and barely the Epidural. I can remember how worried I was over that. When it was time to do it, I was so sleepy I just wanted them to let me lay down.

God Bless, and we're rooting for you here.
Marylou

Christopher,

It will be over before you know it and the whole thing will be a vague memory! You are in great hands and I'm sure it will be smooth sailing for you. Hope you make a speedy recovery!!

Take care,
Jodi

Well just in case there was any doubt... Yall are the best!!! Good news from yesterday is that they don't do an epidural with davinci robots or vats! So that also means that the foley comes out sooner!!! I did a happy dance for that haha! Plus Jacob and my parents are getting along just great!!!! It's gonna be a great day! I'm going to get this thing removed and be on my way to recovery!!!! But really, I am able to stay positive because of all of you here, and I mean that so thank you all soooo much your words and thoughts mean more to me than I would ever be able to express!
All the best!
Christopher

Yay Christopher! You did it!! Now you must be in recovery and on your way to finding out what that damn tumor finally was... Whenever you are up to it we would all love to know how you are doing, although I am sure with your attitude you are going to be wonderful. The worst part, the waiting, is OVER! And now you can just recover. Best wishes to you and do let us know how you are when you get out of the hospital.
Best
Liliana
