ODD SYMPTOM WITH ALIMTA & AVASTIN INFUSION

0 Recommendations

I have had 2 infusions of Alimta and Avastin. I receive them on Friday. By early Tuesday, 4 days later, I get this weird feeling in my lungs, some pressure, almost like if i am lying down and turn to one side or the other it feels like fluid or a fluttering. Also an average fever of. 100.4

When this happened 3 weeks ago, I went to the ER and had all the tests, lung xray and CT with contrast, EKG, blood work and all was clear. It eventually went away after 10 days.

Anyone else have this?

Thanks,
Kat

Avastin Fever

Kat, sounds like a question for Dr. West at cancergrace.org. Good luck and take care, JC

I get alimta/carboplatin combo. I have heavness in my chest and breathing is harder, but it goes away a few days after infusion.

Hi Kat-

My husband had something simlar for awhile when he was on Tarceva/Avastin. It did sound and feel like fluid moving around but tests showed nothing. I can't remember how long it lasted. It did stop eventually so maybe its the Avastin? I used to hear it as well. Very strange!

Before adding the Avastin I did not have this. It is the Avastin. The timing, etc is identicle. It is milder this second time though.

Did your husband have a fever?

Thanks pw.

Kat

Hi Kat-

I don't recall him ever getting a fever while on avastin. But don't quote me on that one. I really just remember thinking how odd that sound was-like a swishing sound right? It definitely wasn't a wheeze. Now that I think back, I kind of remember his Onc giving him an explaination for it but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was. Sorry...maybe it will hit me..i will let you know...

thanks. well it has been concluded that it is the avastin. I asked that they lower the does, i refuse to feel this horrible for a week. its not fun at all. also, the avastin is working so i really want to find a happy medium. But I am definitely reacting to it. My fever was >102 last night.

Thanks.
