Hi everyone,
Did you hear the good news the medical and English language fraternity have decided to change the word "cancer" to "candyfloss". Sorry just joking, but on the serious side wouldn't it be better to call it something else than, 'what has to be the word' that only conjures up images of absolute negativity. I am working through all this and when one of my bosses asks me "what is wrong"? I have to say "I have cancer". I hate using or even thinking about the word
"cancer" it is horrible.
Hope every one is fine, I read through this site every day and sometimes I wonder where some members are as they used to be regular posters(don't want to mention names). Please remember that we do remember your posts and replies and it would be nice to drop in and say "hi" sometimes. We all come here for certain reasons such as fear, support or even to make sure we are not the only one suffering but we are also here to show support and give a few kind words if we can.
Anyway have a good weekend
Michael

Hi Michael, looks as if you still have your strength and sense of humor as well! That's got to be a great sign.

"Cancer" does seem so inappropriate a word at times doesn't it? I often think that surely there is a better way to say we are experiencing an overgrowth of cells!

Perhaps that'll work with your boss. "Leave me alone I've got some cells are out of control right now!".

I hope you and your wife are doing well as you fight this battle, you've got a lot of people pulling for you.

I agree with you - cancer is an ugly word - maybe we can come up with something better. Just to hear the word makes you sicker - hah! Hope you are doing better - looks like you still have your sense of humour!

Sometimes people say the 3 little words "I LOVE YOU" are the hardest to say. Not so once diagnosed. I found it terribly hard to say "I have cancer" But it got better and I am very open about it now.

I found it amazingly hard to say. Awful. However, I've gotten really used to it (unfortunately).

If you used any other word it would also become a terrible word. Its not the word its the disease it represents.

Good to hear from you Micheal.

Michael,

What a wonderful idea - a different word for what we, and many too many, others have! I use 'the beast' because that is what I think it is. Plus, we can beat a beast - it is a horrid, nasty thing, but not insurmountable (sp?). You are a breath of fresh air (no pun intended) whenever you post! Love to hear from you!
