My Mom lost the battle but won the war

0 Recommendations

Well, im sad to say my mother Julieta Serrano passed away Oct.19 2009 of complications. She had stage 4 nsclc and was in her 3 rd round of kemo. I took her to the emergency saturday oct 17th because she was having chess pain. Doctors ran some test and did not find anything. The doctor advised my family and i to keep her in the hospital for a couple of days because her potasium was low and she needed fluids. She was unable to drink becaue her mouth and throat was in pain due to cancer and kemo. I spent the night with her on Saturday at the hospital and she was very happy that i did. Sunday my sister spent the night with her and Monday morning she went into cardiac arrest. They put her on life support in ICU and doctors stated she was going to pass soon on life support or without. We decided to take the life support off and she breathed on her on for neraly 9 hours. During that 9 hours it was the most horrifying or deal my family and i had to go through. We knew she was in pain and suffering and im so happy God decided to set her free from all the pain and suffeiring,. I miss and love my mom very much but by the same token im very happy she is in heaven and happy as can be. She might have lost the battle on cancer but ultimately she won the war because she is now at peace.

God Bless,

Joel

God bless you all. I just went through this with my baby sister 3 months ago today. It is hard to see them suffering and know that they are leaving us. I find comfort also in knowing she is out of the horrible pain she was in. Cancer is a battle nobody should ever have to fight. My prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Joel:

I am SO sorry for the loss of your mother. I pray that God will comfort you and your family during this time. Time, it does heal but it seems so slowly.

Love to all,
Marylou

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I can't say when or if it gets easier, as my mom passed only four months ago. I found this today and I'd like to share it with you. It was published in 1955 and written by Samuel Baron. I plan to use it on the first anniversary of my mom's passing. Take care, JC

Condolence
God, in His mercy, grasped her hand
And led her to a quiet land
Where she, with blessings, will repose.
Her goodly deeds will 'ere remain,
Her wordly cares were not in vain.
For God has changed her to a rose.

Dear Joel,

I know the loss is tough to face, but I am also very glad that your Mother went as quickly as she did. God was indeed watching out for her as I hope he does for you in this grieving period.

My very best wishes,
Sheila
